"Shane was very helpful, transparent, and creative with our job. Quality and craft was top notch. He helped us find a way to make our sidewalks make sense with the awkward layout of our house."

Ozinga Roof Systems is a local family owned and operated roofing and siding company established in 1992. We have been serving in Pennsylvania and Ohio for over the past 23 years in the Trumbull, Mahoning counties as well as the Shenango Valley which includes Mercer and Lawrence Counties. We have grown into a highly respected, highly referred roofing company. We have a 10 man crew. We have created a unique service by repairing roofs rather than replacing them. Although whole roof installations are a big part of our business, we have a passion to help home owners by repairing their current roof who may not financially be able to afford an entire new roof. We offer the Roof Tune Up at a very affordable price.

"Horrible company to hire for your new roof. New roof placed in October 2023. Ten months later and there are still loose ends that need addressed. What is worse; the owner of company was over payed by finance company and the overpayment was to come directly to me when project was finished. Ten months later and the owner of company still owes me 2500.00. He failed to show for a court hearing and I had to put lien against his property. Very unprofessional, no integrity and cannot be trusted."

Roof Ice and Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

While it’s less common than on other kinds of roofs, yes, ice dams can form on metal roofs. Metal roofs, particularly those with snow guards installed, can still accumulate ice at the roof edge, although ice dams on metal roofs are less likely to cause roof or interior damage than on traditional asphalt shingle roofs.

In most cases, it’s a good idea to leave the icicles on your roof and wait for the warmer weather to melt them away naturally. You should only remove icicles if you believe they’re heavy enough to cause damage to your home or anyone who enters it.

The process to winterize your landscaping depends on the plants you have, but generally speaking, you should rake your lawn to avoid leaves from smothering your grass and leading to mold and fungi growth, wrap young trees to protect from fluctuating temperatures, and fertilize your lawn to provide some nutrients for the grass through the colder temperatures. You can also consider marking off small trees and shrubs to avoid accidentally damaging them with snow removal tools.

Heavy amounts of snow could be a problem. In many climates, lots of snow on your rooftop can lead to freeze-thaw cycle that create ice dams, which can damage rooftops. But if you’re using shingle clips, this snow poses an additional problem: As it melts and freezes, it can easily dislodge clips you’ve placed on your roof.

You can clean snow off your roof after a fresh snowfall while it’s still lightweight, but brushing off snow can also dislodge your clips. If you get a lot of snow, then roof clips become less viable.

If a big freeze catches you by surprise and you don’t have any deicer to hand, you can reduce the chance of taking a tumble by laying gritty, anti-slip materials. Some natural, readily-available options that don’t melt ice but offer traction underfoot include sand, wood shavings, kitty litter, and fireplace ash.
