"Very good company that took a lot of pride in their work. I needed a section of my yard cleared of all brush and overgrowth in an area about 1/2 acre in size. They showed up ready to work and within 2 days they had torn everything out, hauled it away, and laid down 40 yds of topsoil and graded it out to a nice finished product ready for grass seed. They went above and beyond by cutting back the edges of the yard to a manageable distance to the property line, and by pulling all the vines and growth that had grown up the side of the garage down and getting rid of as well. There were even 2 large oak tree trunks that had been cut down and left the year before that they were able to cut up and remove as well (these were at least 50-60 year old trees, so 3-3.5 foot diameter trunks). The price was much higher than I thought it would be, which is why I'm not giving 5 stars across the board, but they offered easy to use financing options and the end result is fantastic."

"With an unusually heavy snowfall, Veterans was not prepared for the complexity of snow removal in a 33 home residential neighborhood and struggled to have appropriate, working equipment. After numerous communications with the manager and the driver of the plow, the job was accomplished."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

You can fill the holes weeds leave behind with soil or sand to avoid unsightly spots or tripping hazards. If you remove weeds from a grassy area, fill the hole with soil and grass seed, and water regularly to promote grass growth.

Yes, it is possible to add too little mulch. Anything less than 1 inch will likely result in too little coverage around your plants, allowing weeds to grow through and minimizing the positive effects that a deeper bed of mulch would have, like maintaining proper soil moisture and insulating the ground.

Grass is the most popular and safest option for planting over a septic drain field, but you can also plant small flowering plants and other lightweight plants that don’t have woody or deep roots. Avoid trees and bushes within 10 feet of the field, as the woody roots can crack the perforated pipes. You should also avoid planting vegetable or fruit gardens over your drain field, as a leak from the pipes could contaminate the soil and put anyone who eats the produce at risk.

The best landscape edging tool depends on you and your needs. For homeowners who are looking for a budget-friendly edging material, plastic might be the best option for them. However, homeowners who want a low-maintenance option might opt for concrete or brick. Since there are loads of gardening edging ideas, decide what factors (maintenance, style, or budget) are most important to you to help you narrow your choices.

A window flower box should be deep enough that there’s room for a wide selection of plants and the required amount of soil and gravel. Standard flower boxes are 8 inches deep and 8 inches from front to back. Larger is better to increase the variety of plants in the box, but you could run into stability issues as it increases in weight.
