"Carlton did arrive on time. The job did take longer than the estimated time , but Carlton was very professional and did not waste any time. I am very pleased with the quality of the workmanship. I would recommend this business to all in need of granite or so type of granite or stone repair. My sink was starting to detach from the cabinet. Carlton did reattach the sink and repair several nicks in my granite countertops."

"Shad and his wife did an amazing job installing a cast stone fireplace that I purchased from Mantels Direct. My original tile guys spent hours trying to "figure it out" with no luck. It was a VERY difficult job and it looks absolutely amazing!!! It was a ton of work. Shad works EXTREMELY hard and is very professional and is very accommodating. I am also having him fix some grout issues in my bathrooms. He will also be sealing my quartz/marble countertops. He does excellent work. There seems to be nothing that he can't do. I would highly recommend him."

"They sent 4 people to work 1.5 hrs. totaling 6 man hours. They were late in showing up and I think it was due to lousy weather. I called and was told they would arrive around 11 a.m. but I was counting on them showing up at 8:30 a.m. I understood why they were late, but it would have been nice for them to call me and tell me they would be late."

"Work started on time and progressed steadily.  We had a 4 week wait on the countertops after the cabinets were installed, total time for the entire project was about 6 weeks.

We really could not be happier with every aspect of the project.  The kitchen looks like it belongs on HGTV and the deck will probably be there longer than the house.

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

Granite countertops cost an average of $3,250 compared to $2,250 for tile countertops. Granite is also harder to DIY than tile, given its weight and bulk, which increases the overall labor cost of installation. Over time, both types of countertops may need sealing to remain resistant to water, heat, and other common kitchen elements.

Porcelain is a relatively affordable, mid-range countertop material. It typically costs between $50 to $70 per square foot.

Compared to quartz, porcelain is slightly more affordable, as quartz generally ranges from $50 to $200 per square foot. However, lower-quality, builder's grade quartz can be similar in price to porcelain.

Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.

Cutting stone comes with a number of safety hazards. First and foremost, if you’re not comfortable with the equipment required to cut stone, including blades and grinders, you could easily injure yourself. The heavy machinery also poses a risk to your ears if you don’t wear proper ear protection; similarly, you need to wear eye protection to keep debris from irritating your eyes.

However, the biggest risk from cutting stone comes from the stone dust. When breathed in, stone dust can be a huge hazard to your lungs. Always wear a face mask when cutting stone to prevent inhaling stone dust, and thoroughly clean the work area when you are finished.

To avoid injury, we recommend hiring a stone-cutting professional, rather than attempting this job yourself.

Engineered stone countertops range in price between $60 and $200 per square foot. The three main types are quartz, recycled glass, and sintered stone. The most affordable is sintered stone, which is ideal for outdoor kitchens and costs $60 to $100 per square foot.

Recycled glass countertops fall in the middle at $65 to $140 per square foot and offer a very distinct look. Meanwhile, quartz counters are on the higher end of the price range at $50 to $200 per square foot. Popular quartz options mimic the look of natural stones like marble and granite.

Silestone® is a low-maintenance countertop material, but certain things, like strong chemicals and solvents, can cause damage. Abrasive scrubs can cause scratches, and products that contain oil or powder can leave a residue. Finally, avoid letting oven cleaner come into contact with Silestone® because it can cause discoloration.
