Dog Guard Of Northeast Indiana, LLC, has been serving Northeast and Northwest Indiana and also Northwest Ohio for years. Hi my name is Scott, owner operator. We specialize in electronic pet fences. We can install it, fix it, or adjust it. We take great pride in our work and no job is complete until you are 100% satisfied. No yard is too small or too tall, just give us a call.

"Not happy whatsoever!! After spending $2000.00 you'd think if a customer had an issue, support would be offered. Not this company! After the initial week, our dog broke right through the fence with no reaction and we were told to keep working with her, week 3 it happened again and Scott said he'd stop by and take a look. He never showed or contacted us again. Once this guy gets your money, you're pretty much on your own. I absolutely wish we would have just installed a physical fence because I'm quite certain that's what we're going to do anyway. Total waste of our money and time! "

"Very friendly, courteous team. They explained everything clearly and were very thorough. They had to go up to the Attic through the the bedroom closet. I covered one side of the closet clothing with plastic. I received a call from that tech indicating that he was done but that the plastic came off and he didn't want to come down until the clothes were covered again. Very considerate and customer focused. Very happy with their work and with the two that came to inspect and resolve my issue. A week later and no issues or noises."

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

How long a fence should last depends on the type of fence, but a common split wooden fence should last seven to 10 years. Chain link can last much longer, with wrought iron and concrete lasting decades. If you're interested in your fence lasting as long as possible—and it's made of wood—consider sealing and treating the wood so it can stand up to the environment. Wood is the only fence type that requires this, as concrete and metal are almost always waterproof.

Knowing how close to the property line you can build a fence is an important planning step in your fence installation project. In many U.S. states, you are allowed to build a fence directly on the property line as long as your neighbor signs off on the plan. But check with your state government because some states and municipalities require a couple of inches before your property line.

You should stain both sides of your fence to get the full benefits. Fences often fall along property lines, so you may want to save a buck by leaving your neighbor’s side in the dust. If you do that, all you get is a slightly better view. Moisture and UV rays can still sneak in through the side that’s unpainted or worn down and damage your fence. Rot and rust will spread, even if you can’t see it from your side of the lawn.

When it comes to materials, wire fences are the cheapest option. The average cost for a 150-foot wire fence is $1,350. The next cheapest material is chain-link, followed by wood.

As far as the style of fence, smaller, less private fences are cheaper than large, elaborate fences that block your whole yard. That’s why split-rail fences are the cheapest option for wooden fences. They cost roughly $10 to $30 per linear foot.

Because it's cost-effective and does a great job of keeping pests out and plants in, vinyl is probably the best option for building a DIY garden fence. The material is also easier to work with than metal, which may prompt a homeowner to tackle the project themselves instead of hiring a pro.

Chicken wire is also a great option to put on top of your vinyl fencing, as it’s budget-friendly and easily accessible.
