"A really terrific company. Zach, one of the owners, was attentive to all my requests, and a pleasure to deal with. Kyle, the painter who did the work, was meticulous with every step of the job, obviously an experienced professional. I now know whom to call for all my future painting needs."

"Had our whole house interior - 1,750 sq ft. - walls, trim, doors, baseboards were painted as well as staining our backyard porch. Tom Birman and his crew, Lorraine, Tom, Terry and Nick did a great job! They were friendly and professional. They were on time everyday and worked so well together! When they first came they all went in different directions and I thought uh oh, but I was surprised because they had a system of working together that was so smooth I was amazed! Job completed in 4 days. We are elderly and they were so very helpful taking things down for us that were up high on the walls, because we can’t climb ladders anymore. Cleaned up nicely too. Did a final walkthrough today. We are very happy with the quality of their work! Would definitely recommend and I would hire them again."

"We had a great experience! Saimir and his crew were professional, reliable, flexible, hard working, friendly, very easy to work with, and generous with their resources. They did a beautiful job painting all of our interior walls and ceilings (including excellent drywall patching and wallpaper removal), and their power washing made our deck look brand new. The cost was very reasonable, and the results are well worth every penny. Most highly recommended!"

"Dave and his team are very professional and courteous. Hired them for exterior house & deck painting, they arrived when they said they would be there on Monday morning and completed the job by Tuesday afternoon. Dave worked closely with me on color selection and was very patient when I was changing my mind about trim work. You can't beat the price for the quality work they do. I would hire them again and highly recommend this company."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on coating type, labor, site preparation, and required finishes.

You can paint over old paint on a concrete porch. For the best results, you should first clean the surface and remove as much paint as you can. A power washer is helpful here, but you’ll also want to scrape as much of the old paint away as possible. Then you should prime the porch before repainting it.

Yes, staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan, typically by five to 10 years. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it can still fall victim to moisture, sun exposure, and rot over time. Applying a treatment creates a protective shield that helps prevent splintering, fading, and decay, preserving the wood's strength and appearance. A combination stain and sealer often provides the best protection, as it soaks into the wood grain rather than just sitting on top. This offers superior defense against UV damage and rot and lasts longer than a sealer alone. To maintain the wood's natural look, consider using a near-translucent stain. You should plan to reapply the stain or sealer every two to three years.

For homes in areas with extreme weather, high heat, or intense sun exposure, high-quality acrylic paint is the best option. Acrylic paint is durable, resistant to both heat and cold, and provides a protective barrier with excellent UV resistance. For best results, look for acrylics that contain natural earth pigments, which are better suited for resisting sun damage. While oil-based paint is also durable, it can be prone to fading in high heat and can become too viscous to apply easily in cold temperatures. Additionally, choosing a neutral or light color like gray, beige, or white can help, as these colors absorb less heat than darker shades.

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.
