"This company is very amazing....so knowledgeable, kind, courteous and excellent craftsmen. We have a very large 3 story, 110 year old home with intricate wood detailing, many doors and decks, and hundreds of mullions around the entire exterior. This project took over 3 weeks and they worked every day, even some weekends. They never left a mess and did not leave until everything was perfect. They respected our home and our property. I would definitely hire this highly professional company again."

"I am very impressed with the innovation, craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer service provided to us by Pinpoint Painting, LLC. Our storefront was a "train wreck" to say the least! However, Zach and Pinpoint Painting, LLC came up with the best solution for our problem. Pinpoint Painting repaired external wood and soffit problems with the building in addition to providing a vinyl siding solution that is quite appealing and will last. Not only was the solution great, but the craftsmanship was also superb; our building is actually wonderful to look at now! Pinpoint Painting did not disturb us and left the surrounding area clean and unaffected. I would recommend this company to any business or residence that is in need of external work to their storefront, building, or house!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

No, it is not okay to paint over rotted wood. Painting over rotted wood will not address the underlying issue and can trap moisture, leading to further decay. Properly addressing the rotted wood by removing and replacing or repairing the damaged areas is necessary before you can even consider painting.

Choose based on climate, finish preference (glossy, matte), and durability. Tailored coatings also provide longevity.

Whether to paint or stain a deck depends on your personal preference for appearance and budget. Stain provides a natural look with a range of undertones, is typically less expensive, and may only require one coat, but it does not last as long as paint. Paint offers a sleeker finish with a virtually unlimited color palette. Both options will protect your deck from outdoor elements like rain, snow, and general wear and tear.
