"Robert at Artium replaced a ceiling light for us. The old light was at least 50 years old and had been installed incorrectly. Robert explained what he had to do, took the old light down, repaired the insulation on a couple of the old wires and installed the light correctly. He is very friendly and courteous. The work was done when promised and his rate is very reasonable, probably on the low end. We will use him on our next electrical projects."

Small jobs welcome

"Nick did an outstanding job installing exterior Christmas lighting on our Upper Arlington home. The installation was clean smoother than I expected. He is prompt, courteous, professional, and for us, went out of his way to make sure the job was done right in order to make this a surprise for our family. We will be looking to utilize his services again in the future."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

The easiest and best way to power your outdoor lights is with the use of outdoor outlets. Most building codes now require exterior outlets in homes, so you likely already have outdoor outlets available to plug into. However, you can have these outlets installed if your space doesn’t currently include them.

Table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, desk lamps, and antique or decorative light fixtures that hold sentimental or aesthetic value are commonly repaired.

Simple repairs like replacing bulbs can be DIY projects, but professionals should handle significant electrical repairs to ensure safety and compliance with electrical standards.

There are tons of different types of landscape lighting available, including the choice between solar and wired, incandescent and LED, and a variety of colors. Specific types of lighting include:

  • Pathway lights: $50–$150 per fixture

  • String lights: $50–$150

  • Low-voltage lights: $90–$150 per fixture

  • Porch lights: $65–$250 per fixture

  • Floodlights: $75–$250 per fixture

  • Downlights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Uplights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Security lights: $ 350–$500 per fixture

  • Lamp posts: $400–$1,100 per lamp post

Between seasons, inspect cords for damage, replace burnt-out bulbs, and clean lighting fixtures to prevent dirt buildup. Proper storage in cool, dry conditions will extend the lights' lifespan and minimize repairs or replacements when redeployed.
