"Littleâ  s did an amazing job on the exterior of my brick home, my sidewalks, porches and deck. They made everything that once looked old and worn look bright and brand new again! Both guys I spoke to today were very polite and easy going. The quote they gave me matched what the finished bill was. They are very affordable and reliable. I highly recommend them!"

Small jobs welcome

"I hired this business to refinish hardwood flooring in my home that is close to 70 Years old. There was considerable pet urine damage to a few areas of the floor that would not sand out. The old finish that was on there was kind of waxy and kept gumming up the drum sander. So a belt sander had to be used. The job ended up taking about twice as long as it should have. He could have easily walked away the first or second day of the job because it was clearly going to be a challenge. However, he stuck it out until the end! I was extremely impressed with his work ethic and integrity. I was extremely pleased with the end result. It wasnâ t perfect but the circumstances were out of his control."

"Brock was awesome , was very knowledgeable , worked very fast and efficient and made the whole remodel experience a smooth and enjoyable experience. Putting a pass through between the living room wall and the kitchen was such a big project and he got it done in 8 days. Was very neat and organized leaving minimal dust. Brock just did a very good job and we would highly recommend him to anyone needing some remodeling / maintenance done."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Some elevated decks require stairs that lead to the ground level per the local fire codes in some municipalities. In other regions, a staircase is an optional feature that can increase accessibility and convenience for homeowners who want ground-level access to their deck. Additionally, a staircase is necessary if your home doesn't have an existing door leading to the deck.

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

Putting lattice under a deck will create a polished look that allows for air ventilation. You can also store items underneath as the lattice provides privacy and protection from the weather. You can also put lattice under a porch to create a polished look in the front of your house.

You can build an outdoor kitchen on a deck, but you should choose composite decking since it's more heat-resistant. Metal deck materials like steel and aluminum are also good choices because they're less flammable than wood. You should also consider the weight of the kitchen—make sure your deck can support it and any appliances you plan to use. You should consult a structural engineer to confirm exactly how much weight your deck can safely support when building an outdoor kitchen.

Materials for a second-story deck must be weather- and rot-resistant, though the specific choices will largely be determined by your budget and style preference. Pressure-treated wood is on the lower end of the price scale, but it can be customized and stained the way you like it. Composite, on the other hand, is pricier for installation and has fewer options for customization, but you’ll save money and time in the long run because it requires little maintenance.
