Random people would show up at unannounced times. The few things that an actual Guardian employee did were they made a huge mess of our newly remodeled office and were rude to our staff. Rekeying a lock is less expensive than replacing the whole unit. The cost to rekey is about $50 to $100 when you hire a pro or as little as $10 if you DIY. The cost to change a lock is $130 to $500, depending on the hardware you select.

It’s best to avoid using oil-based lubricants within a lock because they attract larger amounts of dust and debris. When this occurs, it can make it harder for you to operate the lock, or it can even cause damage to the internal locking mechanism. A dry lubricant is the ideal solution instead.

When you take a key to a hardware store or a locksmith for copying, you can expect the key-cutting process to take as little as 30 seconds. The key copier will review your current key to decide on the correct blank. Then, your original key and the blank are inserted into a key duplication machine to cut an exact key copy. This type of lock has a keyhole on the outside and a thumb turn on the inside.
