"When she left her husband we worked it out with them to go when he was at Cedar Point to get her stuff out of the house. He was holding her stuff ransom. Unless she did what he wanted her to do then he wasn’t going to let her have her stuff, even though the court gave her this stuff. They were supposed to get together in the house and divide everything that was in the house that wasn’t on the list. He had a list of stuff he was to keep, a list of stuff she was to keep, and then the list of stuff they were to divide up. Unless she did what he wanted, he was going to be busy. We called them and checked with the prosecutor because the house is still in her name also and he said as long as her name is still on the house there is nothing to stop her from going in and getting her property. So while he took the kids to Cedar Point for his work picnic we went in and got her stuff, and JM Movers met us there. They moved from one street to the next and she wound up with more stuff than we anticipated. We didn't realize she had so much crap. So they had to make two trips. It's like so much for the first 4 hours and so much per hour after. So it wound up being the same price."

Property Appraiser questions, answered by experts

The cost to appraise a home depends on the type. Common types include:

  • Single-family homes: $300–$400

  • FHA or VA single-family homes: $400–$500

  • Condominium: $300–$500

  • Multi-family home: $500–$1,000

  • Apartment building: $1,500–$3,000

  • Commercial properties: $1,400–$10,000

  • Raw land: $1,000–$8,000

If installing board and batten fixes an issue with the home, it could increase the value, but it isn’t commonly installed for that purpose. Board and batten is an aesthetic choice and, like most aesthetic choices, will do little to raise your home’s value. That being said, certain design elements can help attract more buyers, even if your home’s price won’t see a noticeable bump.

Mobile homes weigh anywhere between 45 to 50 pounds per square foot. Some newer options weigh up to 70 pounds per square foot. An average single-wide mobile home weighs 45,000 pounds, and a double-wide mobile home weighs about 70,000 pounds. Triple-wide mobile homes range from 90,000 to 100,000 pounds.

Xeriscaping can absolutely increase your home value, but the return on investment (ROI) depends on where you live and how prevalent xeriscaping is in your area. In drought-prone climates, xeriscaping can boost your curb appeal and make your home more appealing to buyers due to the reduced maintenance and watering costs. However, in areas where xeriscaping isn’t the norm, some buyers may be willing to pay less for a xeriscaped property if they don’t like the appearance.

In short, yes, a pond can add to your home’s value. However, whether it adds value will depend on the condition and aesthetic of your pond. Having this feature already built into a yard’s home can be appealing to homebuyers who value its aesthetic and would prefer not to build it themselves. But if it is not kept in good condition, it could turn buyers away.
