"D Stephens stands behind their work, and because of Danny, we got an estimate from him to reinstall a fence gate that broke during the winter. He purchased new hinges and wood, fixed the gate and only charged $150. D Stephens is now removing wallpaper in my living room, hallway and painting same. I intend to post another review under interior painting contractors when this project is complete."

"I had some repair work that needed done on my siding and Pro Exterior did a great job! Jason was great to work with and did an amazing job of making sure that the new mortar matched the old. You almost can't even see where the repair was done! Pro Exterior was great about getting everything scheduled and keeping me up to date with changing weather conditions. There was one day where they got behind schedule and couldn't make it but they let me know what was going on and we got it rescheduled. Overall, a great team to work with."

"An eight foot section of PVC fence was taken down buy a very large branch. He was able to repair it to like new condition. I sent him many pictures with dimensions and he was able to put it back together without having to replace it with a new panel. The fence I had was a discontinued style. He saved me money and didn't have to replace it with something that would not match. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

For homeowners concerned about security, an electric gate may offer peace of mind. Electric gates will require a code or remote to open, so you don’t have to worry about young children getting out of the yard or someone breaking onto your property by simply swinging open the gate. But because it needs power to operate, installing an electric gate will be more complex and expensive.

No, you can’t use a garage door opener as a gate opener. Automatic garage door openers and automatic gate openers serve similar functions and may even operate similarly via remote control; however, they aren’t interchangeable. Garage door openers aren’t intended for outdoor use and can’t withstand exposure to the elements.

Driveway gates can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, depending on how well you maintain your gate, the material type, how frequently you use it, and whether you choose an automatic or manual gate. Automatic gates generally require more maintenance than manual gates due to their added sliding gate mechanisms, which can go out from frequent use.

You don’t need a permit for an automatic gate in most cities because it isn’t a structural change to your home, but you need to check. A pro can help you with this and since we don’t recommend installing an automatic gate yourself, you should already be in contact with one, making this a frictionless question. Outside of permit requirements, you need to consider your homeowners association (HOA), as some are against gated homes.

Electric gates can be forced open if someone applies enough force to the edge furthest from the mounting bracket. You can reduce this risk by adding an electric lock to your gate opener. However, automatic gate openers generally help deter intruders, especially when paired with outdoor lighting and security cameras. Other home security tips include trimming trees surrounding the area for added visibility and installing motion sensors in your yard.
