"Our bathroom quartz countertop was cut incorrectly (they cut the holes on site when they install) where the faucets were supposed to go- one 6 inches and one 8 inches apart. We did not know until our plumber put the faucets in and hooked everything up a couple days later. After notifying GNS of the mistake we asked for a refund of installation since they did it incorrectly and if we would have installed it ourselves the holes would have been cut at their facility and would have been correct with someone overseeing them do it. The owner refused, saying they installed the counter so why should he refund the money. We also asked to be reimbursed for our plumbing fees because our plumber had to come back to take the faucets and drains out and then come back again to reinstall the faucets and drains- all costing us extra money because if their mistake. Again, he refused and said we never should have had our plumber put the faucets in, we should have noticed the mistake before the faucets were in. He also wanted to try to do a cheap fix (cut the holes bigger to move the faucet handles apart the correct distance and fill in the rest with resin). Our contractor did some measuring and told us we would see the resin so we told GNS to replace the slab. They were difficult to get a hold of and did not return our calls twice so we had to keep calling them. For a company that made a mistake, they were not very courteous about making it right and were in no hurry. We understand that mistakes happen, but when they do, a reputable company would concern themselves with making it right ASAP and in a kind way. Finally, a week and a half later we had a new slab- cut correctly. Keep in mind, installation is usually 2 weeks after you order, so again they were not concerned with the time frame of making things right. Panna was very rude on the phone with my husband and not nice to deal with. We have a kitchen remodel coming up and we will NOT be using GNS. Save yourself the time and money and DO NOT use Global Natural Stone. If they make a mistake, this company is horrible to deal with. (I’m sure Panna will leave a rebuttal like he does on every single bad review trying to make ya out to be money hungry customers- read all the reviews and you’ll notice an obvious common theme when his company makes a mistake.)"

20 years in the flooring business. I have installed for most of the stores out there. Upset with how the customers and myself were getting treated, i decided to do this on my own. I do all the installation and deal with the customers, what do i need a big company for? And you can purchase all your own materials way cheaper then the big companies sell them for, why do you need a big company? Your over paying on everything and chances are your dealing with an installer in a bad mood because of how he is being treated. I also install for all the big box stores so i have a clean background check. A 1 year warranty on all jobs. And work 7 days a week. so need to take off work for this.

FAQs for marble and granite service projects in Cincinnati, OH

Installing a marble backsplash costs about $2,200 on average, ranging from $600 to $6,000, depending on the variety of marble and the labor costs to prep and install. Common types of marble used for backsplashes include:

  • Makrana: $12 per square foot

  • Pink: $25 per square foot

  • Carrara: $40 per square foot

  • Statuatrio: $50 per square foot

  • Cultured: $65 per square foot

  • Travertine: $75 per square foot

  • Danby: $80 per square foot

  • Calacatta: $180 per square foot

Marble countertops cost $3,000 on average, ranging from about $2,000 to $5,000, depending on the type of marble, square footage, location, and whether you use tiles or slabs. Another major cost factor to consider is the grading of the marble, which determines its quality level.

Use this grading system when selecting marble for countertops:

  • Grade A: Nearly perfect with subtle veining

  • Grade B: Minor flaws such as pits, fissures, or blotches

  • Grade C: Minor and major flaws like chipping and cracks requiring repair

  • Grade D: Significant damage needing repair, with dark veining and pronounced colors

Granite and marble compare well against each other in terms of price, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Deciding which one is better depends on your personal style and preference. Both materials resist damage like chips and cracks well. You should seal both material types against staining and etching, but they’re still susceptible if oil, wine, coffee, tomato sauce, or juice are left on the countertop long enough. As material and installation costs range similarly, the deciding factor is your budget, design, and preferences.

Installing granite kitchen countertops costs about $3,250, ranging from $2,000 to $4,000, depending on the quantity and quality of the granite, use of granite tile or granite slabs, the type of granite, and its color and texture. Varieties of granite include:

  • Alaska white: $35 per square foot

  • Ubatuba: $30–$60 per square foot

  • Silver cloud: $35–$40 per square foot

  • Absolute black: $45–$60 per square foot

  • Black galaxy: $50–$70 per square foot

  • Blue Louise: $70–$100 per square foot

  • Crema Bordeaux: $80 per square foot

  • Solarius: $60 per square foot

Overall, granite tends to cost more than marble. Prices for each material will fluctuate depending on the source of the stone, your location, shipping costs, and the thickness of the material. Labor to install marble or granite countertops typically ranges from $35 to $45 per hour. Granite and marble tile and slab costs compare as follows:

  • Marble tile: $7–$10

  • Granite tile: $5–$15

  • Marble slab: $25–$60

  • Granite slab: $50–$100
