"Started late due to Covid and understandable. Once started, either late or didn’t show up. Owner and workers fighting verbally in home. Did not clean up until I finally asked to clean up dust from plaster. Asked for more cash to buy paint and supplies in between job. Then asked for $3,000 over estimate in addition to money already paid. Never responded to request to review invoice. Very unprofessional and would not recommend to anyone."

We started out of a shop in Brooklyn, NY serving NYC, the Garment Industry, Riverdale, and Bergen Co., NJ. In 1988, we relocated to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands serving all major hotels, retail, mostly jewelry and fragrance, and Restaurants. We exported to other parts of the caribbean as well. In 2005, we relocated again to Ulster County, NY and currently operate out of Gardiner, NY. We specialize in design, hand-crafted cabinetry, and architectural woodwork for the residential and commercial markets. We also build new construction, additions, renovations, and have worked extensively in historic preservation. There is no job too small, and likewise none too big. We work with all materials except glass and granite, though we do have great relationships that serve that need for us. We are licensed and fully insured.

"Rob came out, gave us a fair bid, and a crew started the work on time. From what I can tell (without going up on the roof), the quality of the work was good (no leaks yet). However, they did not complete the job before the weather got too cold to continue and they packed up for the winter something last November, 2021. As I write this review, it is September 2022, and I have been waiting 10 months for the roofing job to be completed. For the last three months, Rob has not been returning my calls or texts, so I am stuck with an unfinished job that I will probably have to find someone else to complete."

It’s important to sand your cabinets before you paint them so that your paint job will hold. However, in some cases, you might be able to skip the sanding. For example, you could use certain types of paint, like mineral or chalk paint, that don’t require heavy sanding. You might also be able to use a high quality bonding primer or a liquid deglosser which allows the paint to stick without sanding. 

While certain kits make DIY possible, professionals ensure durability and quality of finish, which is vital for high-moisture areas like baths.

It can take as little as 30 to 60 minutes for wood filler to dry, but some products take up to four hours. Always read labels to ensure you're following the manufacturer’s instructions. Water-based wood fillers typically take longer to dry than oil-based or epoxy-wood fillers, especially when applied to large areas or deep cracks. Wood putty won’t dry completely, remaining slightly pliable.

Technically, you can paint over stained cabinets without sanding. There are specialty paints that are made precisely for not sanding cabinets. However, many interior cabinet paints work just as well. 

To make sure you have a smooth surface without sanding, you’ll need to degrease the cabinets thoroughly, add a bonding coat for strength, add primer, and then finally paint your cabinets. It’s still a process regardless of whether you sand your cabinets.

To prepare for cabinet refinishing or refacing, it’s important to remove all items from the cabinetry in question. In addition, clear any clutter from the room, whether it's the kitchen, bathroom, or otherwise. Be sure to have additional cabinet materials, such as cabinet hardware, lights, and glass inserts, ready for your cabinet installer to use.

Finally, if you have pets, ensure they are in a safe, separate location away from your cabinet professionals, who will bring materials in and out of your home during the process.
