- Bona-Fide ConstructionBona Fide Construction did an outstanding job!!! Kudos to this fine company? I contracted Bona Fide Construction to renovate my sun room. It took them exactly two weeks to finish a challenging job. In fact, they ust finished about an hour ago. This included putting in baseboard heating, electricity, new ceiling, etc. Mr. Castillo and his workers were here bright and early each day, and they even worked on Sundays. They put in full days every time they were here so that they could meet their promise of having the sun room finished expeditiously. The people working at Bona Fide Construction are consummate professionals. The reputation of contractors is akin to those of used car salesmen. However, at Bona Fide, you are dealing with honest men. Mr. Castillo, the owner, is a gentleman and and a man of integrity. He is retired NYPD, and it was an honor for me to have him renovate my sun room. I already contracted him to build a retaining wall, re-do the flooring in my basement den, and to paint the master bedroom and guest bathroom. I am so grateful that I finally found a contractor who fulfills his promises. I waited eight years to have my sun room renovated because I could not find a contractor I trusted. But now, all my contracting needs will be taken care of by Bona Fide Construction. In addition, their prices are reasonable

"I interviewed three general home contractors from Angie's List for repairs in May-June 2019 on a 72 year-old brick-fronted attached house, and I'm glad that I chose M. Hernandez Home Improvement. Their prices were more reasonable than the competition, and Miguel Hernandez showed me that pointing was not necessary (something the other two said had to be done) -- that other means could be used -- to stop a leak that actually originated in the roof and gutters. My punch list was more than 20 items, ranging from new roofing and gutters, to plastering/painting, plumbing, concrete work, and much more. The work took place over several weeks. It was enlightening to watch the range of skills that Miguel, his partner James, their steady guys Hito and Carlos, and the roofers all displayed. Miguel and James were knowledgeable about what remedy was needed for each problem, and were calm, patient and honorable to deal with. I felt I trusted their judgement. When an item or two wasn't fixed completely, they came back and did the job right. Is there a "but" in this review? Yes, in my case. Most of the time the contractor or his crew were on time (meaning within a half hour of agreed time), but several times an hour or more late. For a person living in the home to be repaired, it would just require more waiting and filling in the time. But since I don't live at this house, and it takes about 1 1/2 hours to get there, it meant that I needed to get up quite early for a 9 am start. So a delay was annoying. Yet if you balance out this negative with the very good work Miguel, James and their guys did, I still recommend them highly.
