The mission of K&T Home Improvement is to provide top-quality interior residential and commercial painting services. The company will seek to provide these services in the most timely manner and with an ongoing comprehensive quality control program to provide 100% customer satisfaction. The company principal officers see each contract as an agreement not between a business and its customers, but between partners that wish to create a close and mutually beneficial long-term relationship. Quality is not an act, it is a habit.

"Clean job, reasonably priced. I appreciate that they made themselves available for additional requests (had more to paint than originally planned, refreshing an older home). Some holes needed spackling and sanding, they're invisible now!"

Greater Heights Tree Care is owned and operated by David Baransky, who is a third generation tree expert. From a young age David knew his passion was tree care and obtained a degree in Herb and Tree Management from Paul Smith’s College. David began Greater Heights Tree Care with climbing gear handed down from his grandfather and is proud to have built a business that now has a fleet of trucks. Greater Heights Tree Care is an honest and local business striving to build long lasting relationships with all it’s customers.

"It was a pleasure working with Greater Heights. We called them about a group of 11 small trees needing removal, and got a call back promptly, with a representative assessing the situation and giving an estimate within a day. They gave a possible time frame of three weeks, and came in less than two weeks to do the job. The crew of six then had the entire job done in a little more than half an hour, including the grinding of all 11 stumps and an extremely thorough cleaning job afterwards. The teamwork was impressive to watch, as was the machinery they used to do the job. We were completely satisfied from start to finish, and would have no hesitation about calling them again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Costs reflect the size of the tree or shrub, the complexity of the task, location accessibility, and disposal needs, and comprehensive quotes vary accordingly.

It is possible for you to cut down your own tree, but only take this project on if it’s a small tree and you’re experienced handling a chainsaw. If you need to use a ladder to cut down the tree or tree limbs, it’s too large (and dangerous) for you to remove yourself.

Hire a pro instead who can safely remove the tree without injury to you, themselves, or your home. Either way, look into tree removal regulations for the state you live in before having a tree removed to ensure it’s not a historic tree or protected by your city.

You need to remove all branches affected by Dutch elm disease. If your tree has several affected branches, you will probably need to remove the entire tree. First, consult a pro to be sure that you’ve correctly identified it as an elm tree. Make sure the tree is properly disposed of with a plastic covering or through debarking, chipping, or burning.

Cutting down a tree next to power lines is never a DIY job, and it’s a good idea to contact your utility company first. In most cases, the utility company will need to take care of any tree problems within 10 to 15 feet of power lines. If you want to remove the tree for aesthetic reasons, hire a pro to do the job. Trying to cut trees near power lines yourself can create many safety hazards, and you could be liable if you inadvertently cause damage to electrical equipment.

Unless it’s dead or dangerous, think twice about cutting down a tree in your yard. They’re good for health, well-being, wildlife, and the environment. Plus, local authorities often have regulations prohibiting the removal of trees, especially protected species or individual trees with historical value.
