"I'm so grateful I came across Vinny, he is truly knowledgeable, capable, flexible, and lovely! Unlike other companies, when I called to get a quote, he asked me for photos of the antique upholstered chair and what type of cleaning I would want, and explained the processes, techniques, and solvents he was going to use. I knew I would be in good hands and I was! He was on time, worked quickly, and gave me updates on how everything was going. And of course, the results speak for themselves!! Highly recommend booking"
"The whole experience was great from beginning to end. It was easy to get an appointment. They showed up exactly when they said they would. The repair man fixed a ripped seam on my leather couch and you can't even tell where the rip ever was. Incidentally, I asked him for advice about getting some of the cushions re-stuffed, and he gave me very simple instructions on how to do it myself. He said, I can do it for you, of course - but it will be expensive. And it's simple for you to do it. During the same visit, he also addressed various damage areas on a dresser that's been in our family for a long time. It looks beautiful. I was pleased enough with the service that I have asked for a quote on an additional upholstery job that I have. It's much more extensive - something that will have to be done in the shop vs. an in-home visit. I'll write another review after I go through that experience. But based on my service today I would highly recommend this business.
Update: I went ahead with the additional upholstery job and was - again - highly satisfied. This involved upholstering a victorian chair from 1880. The experience was so easy - they came and picked up the chair. They offered fabric selections, but I was looking for something more specific. I ordered my own, had it delivered to their workshop and they delivered the chair when it was done. The finished product looks absolutely amazing.
I highly recommend this business - they were professional, offered great service, and have talented craftsmen on their staff."
"I have 2 crewel-work upholstered wing chairs that had faded and had a musty odor. Thomas knew exactly how to treat them to preserve the delicate needlework but still clean them making a very noticeable difference in their appearance. I had him return the following week to clean the carpeting on my stairs and he did an equally excellent job. Very professional and fairly priced."

Homeowners in Riverhead often choose upholstery fabrics that aren’t suited for the area’s coastal humidity, causing mold or fading. Attempting DIY upholstery on antique or historic furniture can lead to weakened frames or improper spring repairs. Misjudging fabric yardage, skipping moisture-resistant linings, and overlooking the impact of Riverhead’s seasonal climate on materials are frequent errors that can compromise furniture restoration results.
Helpful?
Signs of quality upholstery work in Riverhead include straight, even seams; fabric that’s taut but not overstretched; and secure, hidden fastenings. Pattern alignment should be consistent, with reinforced areas where wear is common. Materials should be chosen for Riverhead’s climate, and all hardware—such as zippers and buttons—should operate smoothly, with no exposed staples, rough edges, or loose threads on the finished piece.
Helpful?
Riverhead upholstery professionals start by evaluating the furniture’s frame, springs, and existing fabric, especially for older or historic pieces. They set project boundaries based on your design goals, budget, and the specific needs of your home’s environment. Considerations like local humidity, fabric durability, and the logistics of transporting furniture within Riverhead help define the full scope of the upholstery project.
Helpful?
Upholstering projects in Riverhead offer immediate benefits such as revitalizing furniture to match local home styles and extending the life of quality pieces. Over time, professional upholstery services help preserve antiques common in Riverhead homes, reduce landfill waste, and support eco-friendly living. Well-upholstered furniture also withstands NY’s coastal climate, maintaining comfort and value in Riverhead’s competitive real estate market.
Helpful?
To ensure a smooth upholstery project in Riverhead, research local upholstery services with experience in coastal climates. Schedule projects during fall or winter for optimal humidity conditions. Test fabric samples in your home’s natural light, order extra material for pattern matching, and prepare your space for furniture pickup. Clear communication with your upholsterer and planning for transport or storage are also key for Riverhead homeowners.
