Bleach is a potent chemical that will destroy the pressure washer from the inside out. No, pressure washing isn’t recommended for cartridge filters. The high pressure can damage the filter paper, and the gentler pressure from a regular garden hose will work to rinse the cartridge filter. If the cartridge is very dirty or has algae or mineral buildup, you can use a muriatic acid solution to soak the filter and remove the buildup.

It depends on the type of surface, but if you’re preparing to pressure wash a driveway, you’ll start by using a broom or leaf blower to get rid of dirt, leaves, and other debris. Then, move any nearby items (like outdoor furniture and potted plants) and cover in-ground plants with a tarp or plastic sheet. After that, you can apply degreaser spray or another pretreatment solution to any stains and scrub them with a stiff brush before pressure washing.

Late spring is an ideal time to pressure wash your home since the bloom of pollen in the air will have settled and you’ll be able to get the siding as clean as possible.

You can get by with just using water, but remember, brick requires a lower-than-average pressure level when compared to concrete, so forgoing detergent increases the time it takes to spot clean stains and debris once you finish with the pressure washer.
