There are three primary ways to attach upper kitchen cabinets to a wall, and installers may use more than one method at a time. The most common method is to drive screws through the back of the cabinets and into studs in the wall behind. Sometimes cabinets are glued to the wall with strong adhesive. If you want to contain how much your cabinet doors can open, you may need to add cabinet door restraints or hinge restrictor clips. Both allow you to adjust how far your cabinet door opens so it won’t hit the wall.

The short answer in the debate between gloss vs. stain for cabinets is it depends on the look you want to achieve. Paint with a satin finish is more low maintenance and can work for a wide variety of kitchen or bathroom styles. A gloss finish is much shinier and shows more flaws, so it should be applied by a professional painter instead of a DIY project. 

Glass is typically held in a cabinet door by a silicone sealant, which will keep it tightly in place.
