If your recycled glass countertop contains a cement binder, it’ll require an additional layer of protection. Seal these countertops once or twice a year. Use a concrete sealant and finish it with a food-safe wax for a gorgeous and shiny finish. Otherwise, just clean the countertop regularly and always use a cutting board.

The resin should be periodically sealed to help prevent it from wearing down or becoming porous. Very sharp or very hot objects can damage the resin surface, and there’s no way to fully repair it if that happens, so we recommend treating the counters well.

Countertop resurfacing or refinishing can extend the life of your countertops for an additional 5 to 10 years. The longevity depends on the quality of the materials, the amount of wear and tear, and how well the countertops are maintained. To maximize their lifespan, avoid heat damage by using hot pads or trivets, use cutting boards to prevent scratches, clean with non-abrasive cleaners, and wipe up spills promptly.

You can make laminate counters look like marble by following the steps above. However, the condition of the laminate may limit the final results. For example, if the laminate is splitting at the corners or has sharp edges, the epoxy may not work or mimic natural marble as well.
