"Sergiy and Nick from My Town Remodeling completed the following tasks: 1. Full renovation of basement 2. Full renovation of bathroom 3. New ceiling for another bathroom 4. Touchups in kitchen Here are the qualities that stand out for My Town Remodeling: 1. Honesty – Since these tasks involved various transactions with Home Depot and Lowes ranging from $10 to $1000. Sergiy ensured all receipts were properly documented and emailed every Friday. Further, all unused items were returned back to stores 2. Hard work – Sergiy and Nick work tireless to ensure the project was completed within the time agreed on the contract. In spite of lost days such as snow storm with no power, they ensured no day is lost by working extra hours, and in some cases with a flash-light 3. Respectful – Sergiy and Nick were very respectful and courteous throughout the process. They respected the feedback/comments provided, and implemented them right away 4. Craftsmanship – They showed excellent creativity in the design of the renovated bathroom. They provided various ideas and recommendations, and delivered an very good look renovated bathroom After this project, Sergiy was asked to execute two more projects, and he was recommended to our friends. "My dad?s house had storm damage that caused a pretty severe roof leak, and upon inspection the roof was in worse shape than we expected. We had several roofers come out to provide estimates, and they all indicated that a total tear-off and replacement was necessary. As I was managing the repairs from out of town, it was important to find someone who was overly responsive, and would be available to speak with me via phone/text throughout the project.
Matt, the owner, was extremely responsive when we called him for an estimate. In fact, he came over that same day and provided us with his estimate and we discussed possible scheduling. Since it was critical that the roof replacement occur before bad weather (especially any snow), he said he was able to juggle some of his jobs around so that our roof could be done later the next week. This was a huge factor in why we chose him to do the work. His pricing was also very reasonable compared to other estimates we received, although he did warn us that there may be unforeseen costs once they began the work. He indicated it was hard to know what they would find until the old roof was off. As it turned out, his original estimate did not cover everything, and we ended up paying about $800 more for heavily rotted wood and an additional layer of shingles that required extra labor to remove. But we understood the need for these additional costs and did not feel he was taking advantage of us at all.
Matt kept in constant communication with me throughout the 3-4 day project, mostly via text which was very convenient. He took photos of their progress and shared them with me daily. He also made sure to inform us of the additional costs before he moved forward with the work ? so we gave approval for him to proceed knowing what the additional expense was. Even when the work took a day longer than he had anticipated (mostly because of the additional rot and layer of shingles mentioned previously), Matt made sure to communicate with us regularly and keep us informed of the revised schedule.
His team was courteous, professional, and the work they did was top notch. They did their very best to clean up after the project was completed, and they were very flexible throughout when challenges arose with what was a difficult job due to the age of the roof, the lack of space in the driveway for a dumpster and just general non-optimal conditions that were out of our control given where the house is located. They worked 8-10 hours per day, sometimes well past dark to try and stay on schedule, even the day before Thanksgiving. We were so appreciative of this, and Matt was really trying to do everything he could to complete the project on time but it just was more work than anyone anticipated.
The end result is a brand new, beautiful roof that looks fantastic and is of great quality. Matt is a nice, down to earth guy who knows what he is doing and we got the distinct impression that he really wants to provide quality service and work to his customers. And dealing with the owner directly on a large, expensive project like ours was an added bonus that really
made a huge difference. We are very pleased with the work Matt and his crew did, and would have no hesitation recommending them for similar work!

"Chris was very motivated and started the job promptly. His work ethic was great, staying late a couple of days late to complete job on time as agreed. He reviewed any issue found and was flexible when extra work was needed. The quality of the work was great in making the breezeway siding look the same as the garage, so with the paint job the house/garage improvement was dramatic. His pricing was reasonably and his clean-up appreciated. We would definitely recommend Chris to others and would engage him for work ourselves."

"They did a free quote, I like the quote and hired Cory, They did driveway work, 24x101 and if flares and is gorgeous, all the water drains perfectly. He had to remove the lower area of driveway and the culverts. He removed the shrubs and lilac trees that were in the way of my driveway and that was not even part of the bid. He made great recommendations. He is willing to come back if need be, but I did not need him to come back."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

It is not advisable to use salt on your roof to prevent or remove ice dams. It’s not only mostly ineffective but can also cause serious damage to your roof itself. Salt can rust metal, damage masonry, pit shingles, and cause runoff that’s damaging to plants and animals.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.

Time varies based on the property size and snow depth, but most jobs take 1-3 hours.

While it’s less common than on other kinds of roofs, yes, ice dams can form on metal roofs. Metal roofs, particularly those with snow guards installed, can still accumulate ice at the roof edge, although ice dams on metal roofs are less likely to cause roof or interior damage than on traditional asphalt shingle roofs.

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams, but the best thing to do is address insulation issues in your attic. If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.
