"Dan and sons came right at the beginning of the pandemic. We were knocking down walls and doing a new kitchen, tile floors and backsplash. It was a difficult job with our old home. The construction they did was awesome. Dan came up with ideas to help with my vision and they are perfect. We had a gathering recently and people could not stop talking about how beautiful our home is. Now the reason not all 5's is I am a very fussy person about little details. That is why I did not give all 5's. Felt they rushed a bit to finish. To be honest I don't blame them, I was overwhelmed and snippy at the end. They did the very best they could do in the circumstance. I may have left a bad review at one time, but to be honest it wasn't fair. As I look at my home now it brings me nothing but joy. "Anton did a very nice job cleaning and staining our log home. It had been neglected by the previous owner and needed a lot of work. He also replaced rotted siding on our barn, fixed some significant structural defects and stained it. A nice job and finished in a timely fashion. Anton was here supervising the job all the time. "I was once told by a master stair builder that if you want to evaluate a general contractors work, look in the dumpster at the job site for an excessive amount of used caulk tubes indicating that they are covering up mistakes. Recently we completed a very challenging project that required the excavation under our old seasonal home in conjunction with a significant 2-story addition. After interviewing three reputable and recommended contractors, we decided to work with Dave Nessel, owner of Unique Construction. Dave presented a clear concise estimate of the scope for the work proposed, the costs we should expect and a timeframe for completion; all proved to be very accurate. He and his team of true artisans obviously enjoyed their work. Laughter and music would usually overshadow the sound of the power tools that were working in synchrony. The exceptional fit and finish in a clean and neat environment were easily appreciated. Dave is truly a meticulous visionary. During the project, he was never shy about recommending esthetic modifications which deviated from the architects drawings. Whether these change orders originated from him or us, they were never with exorbitant fees, but were billed for time and materials used. The final result far exceeded our expectations. "Hugh's three workers were fantastic. They completed the work on the deck replacement in a day-and-a-half. The work was done cleanly with no damage to the landscaping that is so close to the project. Clean up when the project was completed is superior to any other we had done in the past. The refurbished storm door looks brand new and is a welcoming addition to the project. Hugh contacted us the same day as our request and showed up for the initial estimate on time. I cannot emphasize more what a pleasant experience it was having Hugh and his workers take care of our project. "I hired Remodeling Concepts based on a recommendation. Right from the start Derek was very responsive and once at my home he was full of ideas and suggestions to help us with our remodel. I brought in 3 contractors before hiring RC. The estimates were all around the same amount and Derek was right in line with his prices but he offered a lot more than anyone else I spoke to. Throughout the remodel, the entire staff were professional and friendly. I actually got to the point that I felt that the guys had become family...my dogs even liked them! Derek and his staff were always available when I needed them and anytime I made changes to the project Derek took it in stride and worked with me to make sure I was happy. "I'm hesitant to say how awesome Shapiro Construction is because I would not mind keeping them all to myself. But they helped me so much, I want to give others the chance to choose their services. First, Mr. Shapiro is incredibly talented in all the things! Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, all of it, and he knows Code. I hired him for 1 project and then immediately hired him for 3 more! Bring him your weird problems, the jobs other people botched, the stuff you aren't even sure is possible. He will find a way to make it happen, and the work will be structurally sound (he made my old 1850s house stronger than it was before!), with a beautiful aesthetic. Moreover, he will clean up his work area at the end of every day. He is a good communicator, and shows up on the days he says he will! Reliable, talented, a good listener, and eager to involve the client in all the decisions--I give Shapiro Construction my highest recommendation. They will not be your lowest bid, but they are well worth it. The other guys who bid lower are the ones who use shoddy materials, leave the jobs half finished, and then don't come back again or return your calls for weeks. Mr. Shapiro gives clear timeliness. Pay a little more for the quality work and the better service of Shapiro Construction. It will be worth it for a headache-free job working with someone who collaborates with you and responds to the individual quirks of your house, and guarantees a beautiful finished product. I know my house represents a better long-term investment because of the work done by Shapiro Construction."
