"Free Flow put a brand new leach field in my back yard. Jack Brand is professional, hard working, extremely knowledgeable and very reasonable. He makes sure that everything is done with excellence! I am very happy with the job he did and would recommend him to anyone looking for Septic work. He is also responsive to questions and maintains communication during the whole process . Great job!"

"I hired Kerman to install an exhaust fan in my bathroom. Kerman was great to work with. Punctual, professional and they did an amazing job. The price was very reasonable and the quality of the work second to none. I couldn't be happier. Hire him and I promise you will not be disappointed."

"He came and replaced a part that did not fix it. Took part with him. He came back and charged me another almost $300 for a new sump pump which I should have gotten the first time he came. I feel I paid twice. Too much money."

"We had a water heater installed same day after finding a leak in the basement. These guys showed up during the time period quoted. They provided me with a detailed estimate of the work to be performed, and I found their price to be very reasonable. They were able to remove the existing water heater and replace with a new one within about three hours. They even helped me clean up the water that was in my basement from the leaking water heater. Their work was very neat and professional looking; And I will definitely use them in the future for any plumbing needs. It’s nice to find a tradesmen that you can trust, and who explains the work throughout the process."

"Dishwasher and ceiling fan service was wonderful. Garbage disposal is on its way, the shower fixture was a little messy and have to return 3 times to fix, pray its the last time. But not Choice Warranty's fault. Alittle pricey but allows you to pay them out."

"First, the air conditioners were installed very well and looked like they were meant to be there. The air conditioners that were taken out were large, non-energy efficient air conditioners and Bob installed a decorative molding around the units - it looks like it should have been there since the condo was built. Then we called Bob and Lydia back to do some work on our kitchen. Bob did all of the work quickly, efficiently and neatly. Lydia gave us ideas for our cabinets and backsplash and they have turned out beautifully. Our cabinets and backsplash are always complimented when we show the condo to people. He worked through an entire weekend to get the kitchen cabinets for a tight countertop install deadline, which other contractors did not want to do. Best of all, their work is priced fairly and they do not hassle you for a huge deposit like other contractors do. Bob and Lydia are both a pleasure to work with, and if we flip another condo, we will be calling them in again. **NOTE: I put $0 in the approx. cost of service because we were billed per job, and these were spread out over the span of a few months. As I mentioned, their pricing is very fair and we were inclined to hire them over and over again."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

While unplugging your garbage disposal and plugging it back in may help, most units have an actual reset button, a bright red switch found on the underside of your unit. If your garbage disposal needs resetting, you may notice this button sticking out about a quarter of an inch from the surface of the unit, with which it’s usually flush. Simply depress this reset button to reset the unit, and then test to ensure it’s working about 10 minutes later.

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.

Garbage disposals are durable appliances that usually last at least eight years as long as you clean and maintain them. It’s relatively rare for a garbage disposal to break on its own, as most malfunctions happen due to user errors, like overstuffing the grinding compartment or damaging the blades by trying to dispose of metal or bone. Eventually, cracks or leaks could develop in the unit, which requires a full replacement.

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.
