"I selected Stallmer and Sun based upon their certification from the NYS Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The program involves a free energy audit and subsequent work to prepare a home for heating with a heat pump. Heat pumps are low energy consumption with attendant low heat output. To ensure comfort the building envelope has to be as energy efficient as is practicable. Todd Stallmer used an infrared camera to find that our first floor rim board was not well sealed. Also, the floor penetrations for wires and plumbing were allowing cold air and moisture to migrate up through our living space. I think he went out of his way to see that we received the subsidy from NYS which cut our costs by about 2/3 rds. Our house feels warmer with no change to our thermostat setting."
