"Shamrock was fantastic to work with! The crew showed up right on time, were super friendly, and did a great job cleaning and checking my chimney. "The first mistake was in their measuring and I ended up with too big of an insert. (This was almost eight years ago, and I let it go, although unhappy.) Because of the size miscalculation, installation took much longer. Come dark, the work quality seemed to change. In the end I was told nothing was getting in my chimney and they did not install an actual chimney cap. The resulting problem of 2018... This spring, a bird made it all the way down to my unit, alive. Affordable wouldn’t take care of anything except to say I could book a cleaning for inside the insert, which wasn’t the problem. Luckily I found a company that would help. Upon removing the insert, they found debris accumulated in the liner, and multiple dead birds. (The new bird had died, and there were apparently others prior.) This hazard had been ongoing for years, unbeknownst to me! Affordable said I should have called sooner?! Communication was drawn out for months, so it’s now October and I finally know Dave is not accepting any responsibility in my $891 repair bill that stated: *intake liner not to top of flue *open hole in top plate *no animal protection present *birds have entered into flue area, old smoke chamber, and have nested *unit must be removed and cleaned *new liners and termination cap required for safe, efficient venting. Needless to say I am very disappointed in my company choice and certainly do not recommend Affordable Heating."

ANC is proud to have been voted the number 1 heating and air conditioning contractor in the southern tier of ny by the readers choice awards, 25 years in a row and we enjoy a very positive rating by the better business bureau, simply due to the case that we treat our customers like family. ANC also has one of the largest fireplace showrooms in the area so our customers can actually see and use one of our superior hearth products.

"I posted a detailed UNSAT rating of the BBB sites. Net - I have called ANC 17 TIMES over the last 2 years to replace 7 pieces of siding they damaged when installing my new AC. They have given me every excuse under the sun, bad company credit card when ordering the siding, company sent soffit instead of siding, Lloyd Jr isn’t responding to service tech, “ will call you back tomorrow “ weeks go by and I still have to chase them. Guess it’s time we go to court."

Gas Logs questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can have a gas line professionally installed to convert your traditional fireplace to natural gas; just know it’ll be an extra cost to budget for. The cost to run a gas line where you don’t already have one is about $540, though most homeowners pay between $260 and $820. Your total could be significantly higher if you don’t already have a main gas line running to your home.

Yes. There are a variety of standard pipe sizes used in plumbing. The main supply line connecting your home to the street is either 3/4 or 1 inch in diameter. Supply lines are 3/4 inch in diameter. Individual components are 1/2 inch in diameter. Meanwhile, your main drainpipe is often 4 inches wide. Most shower and bathtub drains are 2 inches in diameter, most toilet drains are 3 inches in diameter, and most sink drainpipes are 1 1/4 or 1 ½ inches in diameter.

Temporarily capping a gas line—for renovations or during travel—doesn’t require a permit. If you plan to remove a gas line and cap it completely, you’ll need to apply and pay for one through your town or city. Depending on your region and its local codes, you may pay between $25 and $100. To avoid a gas leak or other hazards, some cities take the job of permanently adjusting or capping a gas line out of the hands of homeowners. Instead, they require hiring a professional gas plumber.

Having the right size pipe ensures proper drainage and helps protect against clogs and other plumbing problems. A pipe that's too small will take longer to drain, which can result in backups. And solids can build up in pipes that are too large. Choosing a pipe with the appropriate volume also means it will be able to handle water pressure, which is the force behind the water.

Yes, it’s possible to convert an oil furnace to gas. However, you may have to replace the furnace completely instead of simply converting it. If the original oil furnace has had any type of damage or is older (typically considered over 15 years old), then you will likely need a full replacement versus a conversion.
