"Night Owl was quick to respond and be on site. We had a a leaking cast iron 4" sanitary line and a clogged pipe (problems with a 140 year old house!). Raiden was quick to review, get back with an estimate, and fast to start the job. Not an easy job due to old construction and restricted space to work. We removed all the old cast iron drain pipe that ran in the basement with PVC, and also the drains up to the downstairs sink and toilet . He was easy to work with, the job was done professionally and in a reasonable timeframe. The sanitary drain was cleaned all the way out to the village pipes. I would not hesitate to hire him for any plumbing issues."

"They went above and beyond what was necessary to fix my problem. They were careful when digging so as not to break any other underground lines or disturb the insulation outside my basement wall. They also did a descent job of landscaping afterwards, and were good at cleaning up after themselves. They are a top notch outfit in my opinion. I would hire them again if necessary without a second thought."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

A two-way cleanout can help if there’s already a clog, but the best strategy to prevent one is by not rinsing grease, oil, or fat down your drains, not flushing or rinsing coffee grounds or egg shells down your drains, flushing only human waste and toilet paper (so no diapers, period products, bathroom wipes, or paper towels), and using drain guards on all of your drains.

Some flushable wipes companies say they are designed to disintegrate within a few hours to a few days after being flushed. These wipes allegedly use materials that are more water-soluble than traditional wipes. However, many experts have raised concerns that even so-called "flushable" wipes do not break down as easily as claimed and can contribute to clogs and blockages in sewer systems.

To prevent plumbing and sewer problems, avoid flushing wipes, even those labeled as flushable. Instead, dispose of them in the trash. This can help prevent costly plumbing issues and reduce the strain on wastewater treatment systems.

Bleach isn’t likely to help unclog a sewer line. Bleach isn’t useful in this situation because it won’t dissolve the grime and debris in the clog. Instead, you want to use ingredients that will have a chemical reaction to clear out the buildup, like vinegar or salt and baking soda.

If used correctly and sparingly, root killer shouldn’t damage your pipes. Make sure to follow the instructions on the back of the bottle or the company’s website to avoid any unintended damages. However, when it comes to copper sulfate, it’s better to avoid it. This type of root killer can damage your plumbing and the surrounding environment.

There is conflicting advice on whether to leave a baking soda and vinegar mixture in a drain overnight. Some sources suggest it can be effective for tough clogs, recommending that you flush the drain with warm water in the morning as part of a monthly cleaning routine. However, other experts advise against leaving the mixture in for extended periods, as its caustic nature could corrode drainpipes if used too often or left in for too long.
