Small jobs welcome

"Tysheen was responsive to text messages, communicative about the price (and possible complications to installation that could affect the price beforehand), and did an excellent job installing two ceiling fans. He was professional and cleaned up the area after installation. The ceiling fans work perfectly. Overall it was a pleasant experience working with Tysheen. I highly recommend and plan to use his services in the future when needed."

"Michelle and Javier updated our basement and entryway ceilings by removing the old tiles, installing drywall and plaster, and painting. They also changed our front door and installed waterproofing concrete in our basement. They were fantastic about cleaning up after themselves each day and left our basement very tidy. Michelle and Javier are absolutely fantastic to work with and we look forward to using them again on future projects. They are very responsive and are quick to deliver estimates and schedule the work. Their pricing is fair and despite us changing our mind on a couple of items at the last minute, the project stayed on budget and our final payment was as originally estimated. They worked efficiently and with amazing attention to detail. It was really high quality work. Javier and Michelle are both kind and trustworthy people and are lovely to work with. It seems like they can expertly handle just about any type of home renovation you need, and we recommend their services very highly!"

"Moises and Edward and the crew did a repair of my facia. They told me to get PVC so it would last longer. They also repaired cracked walls and ceiling and painted. They did perfect work. Did so good I kept finding more work for them because it looked so good. They are so polite and respectful and right on time. Also they are very fair with their prices and don't push for or more work. I now consider them friends. Don't waste you're time because you won't beat their prices. They can do anything too. Bathroom, kitchen, floors. I will hire them again they are the best."

"Paul was very nice and helped me out greatly. Even when the job got more difficult because of the wiring inside the ceiling, he was able to figure it out. He was in good spirits the whole time even after the elevator had issues and he had to climb up and down the stairs. Loved his friendly and kind personality."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.

Installing a ceiling fan where no wiring exists is a difficult and potentially dangerous job that should not be attempted as a DIY project. It is recommended to hire a certified electrician to build the necessary electrical infrastructure. In some areas, building codes require this work to be done by a professional to ensure safety and compliance. Due to the complexity, this type of installation is a significant job that could cost up to $2,000.

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.
