"We have a building and it is so old that it never had insulation in the walls. The winters were very uncomfortable because of the cold that would come thru the walls. Sound from the apartment above carried like the person above was right next to you. I called Ecorite and made an appointment with Danielle to have an estimate. Uri was on time and took measurements then gave us a written estimate. Big wow for us since most of the time we are given a verbal one that keeps changing until a contract is written. We told Uri our issues and he made suggestions. He explained the products and how they use them. Closed and open cell materials and what walls they need to go on. Next was the actual installation. We had to make some changes and Danielle made sure the contract was updated and I approved the changes. She made sure everything ran smoothly. When the workers were on their way Danielle made sure I knew it. When the Kenneth and Lucas (the workers) arrived they were on time and greeted us then introduced themselves. They were friendly and pleasant and they made us feel comfortable with their knowledge of the product, and respectful of our home. They instructed us on how to reduce or eliminate any incontinence to the other tenants of the building. During the installation they worked non-stop, until they broke for lunch. After lunch break they were in a hurry to get back to work. There was no slowness here; if I had to use a word I would use quick€. After the job was done they cleaned up and took out the trash (which for us is a big thing). The entire job was a pleasant experience. I will be calling back for the next apartment. If not for Homeadvisor I would not have found such a good company. We are very happy."

"These guys are great! Manny showed up on time for his estimate, gave me a price on the spot, and talked things out with me to make sure that I understood exactly what he was including in the insulation project. He was able to meet my timeline, which was quick, and finish the project on time and as promised. He was very communicative throughout the process and pleasure to deal with. His crew was polite and worked hard. I am VERY satisfied with the crew and the workmanship."

"They showed up exactly when they said they would. They were efficient, neat and made sure to send me pictures in the various stages of execution. And they cleaned up better than when they found the area. I would highly recommend them. I wish he did more than insulation because he would be my go-to guy for all house related needs."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

In Long Island, homeowners often neglect air sealing before installing new insulation, which can lead to persistent drafts and reduced energy efficiency. Choosing insulation unsuited for NY’s coastal humidity or failing to address moisture in crawl spaces can cause mold issues. Overlooking local permit requirements or Nassau and Suffolk County building codes may result in delays or costly corrections after the project is underway.

Helpful?

For your Long Island home, you can use caulk to seal small cracks, add weatherstripping to doors, and install foam gaskets behind outlet covers to improve energy efficiency. Check attic insulation depth and look for visible air leaks. Avoid disturbing older insulation, especially in homes built before 1980, due to possible asbestos. For any signs of water damage, electrical hazards, or mold, contact a local NY insulation professional.

Helpful?

When hiring a Long Island insulation contractor, prioritize experience with NY’s coastal climate and knowledge of Nassau and Suffolk County building codes. Confirm they carry liability insurance and offer clear warranties. Ask about their approach to moisture control and attic ventilation, especially for older homes. Request recent local references and ensure you receive a detailed written contract outlining the scope of work before any project begins.

Helpful?

Long Island’s coastal NY climate means insulation must withstand high humidity, salt air, and frequent temperature swings. Materials should be moisture-resistant and suitable for attic insulation in both cold winters and hot, humid summers. Nor’easters and hurricane threats require insulation that can handle heavy precipitation and potential flooding. Scheduling installation in late spring or early fall helps avoid peak humidity and ensures optimal performance.

Helpful?

Insulation service in Long Island provides immediate improvements in comfort and indoor air quality, while reducing drafts and controlling humidity. Over time, you’ll notice lower energy bills, less strain on your HVAC system, and protection against mold or moisture damage. Proper insulation can also boost your home’s value and may qualify you for NY energy efficiency rebates or tax incentives, making it a smart investment for long-term savings.
