Customers say: Super punctual

"It went fine but there was a conflict in the detail of the deal, see below from deal e-mail, and the work provided. Deal said 2 hours of handyman service, the contractor came with an assistant and said the deal is for 1 hour of work with 2 workers. So they did a bit over 1 hour of work! There is no such stipulation that I see in the deal it just say 2 hours handyman service and anything over 2 hours is charged at regular rates. --- E-Mail From Angies List --- DEAL DESCRIPTION Here's the Deal: >$99.00 for 2 hours of skilled handyman service around your home >Deal can be used for everything from minor plumbing and electrical work, or carpentry labor, tile installation/repair, drafty window/door repair, wood rot repair, shelving installation, drywall repair and more >Having a priority list at time of scheduling will help ensure you get the most of your time DEAL TERMS Deal must be purchased through Angie's List to be eligible for discount Not valid for cash back Deal cannot be combined with other specials or offers Deal cannot be applied to current or past jobs For residential service only Appointments are to be performed during normal business hours Standard cancellation policies apply Limit 1 deal per person/household Work beyond 2 hours will not be undertaken without homeowner approval Does not include cost of materials Deal must be used in 1 visit Image may not reflect exact product/service This offer is protected by the 30 Day Refund Guarantee Service Quality Guarantee available with purchase by Silver and Gold members (some exclusions apply) Promotional value expires 3 months from date of purchase; paid value never expires"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

The time it takes for thinset to dry is determined by your room’s ambient temperature and humidity levels. Assuming the average humidity level is around 40% with an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, thinset can dry within 48 hours. Lower temperatures and higher humidity can extend the curing process beyond 72 hours, while high heat and zero humidity can shorten the curing process. However, thinset can crack if it dries too fast.

Yes, it matters which side of drywall you use. One side is smooth, and the other is rough. The smooth side should be facing outward, toward the room, while the rough side should be hidden and facing the studs and framing of the house. The smooth side will be easier to apply tape, joint compound, and, later, paint to.

Whether you need drywall anchors depends on your specific project, particularly where you are hanging an item. Drywall anchors are not necessary if you can drive a screw directly into a wooden stud behind the wall, as the stud provides sufficient support. However, since studs are not present everywhere in a wall, you will need to use drywall anchors if you are hanging an object in a location without a stud. For very lightweight items, picture hanging strips can also be a suitable alternative.

Choose a drill bit that is the size of the screws of the anchors you will use. You aren’t drilling through metal or concrete—hopefully—so any standard twist, wooden or all-purpose drill bit will work fine. It’s also important to have a screwdriver capable of drilling through the drywall and into the stud. The good news is most available drills, even the older ones, can do this with no issue.

Drywall can get wet and dry out without sustaining permanent damage, but only if the water damage is minor. If you have a small leak and are quick to correct the issue and set up blower fans and dehumidifiers, your drywall should dry out. If the leak is persistent, the drywall becomes totally waterlogged, or mold begins forming on the drywall, you should remove and replace it.
