"Mr. Toye was a real lifesaver. He showed up right when he said and he was easy to contact about scheduling and other questions. I needed some weird problems solved at the house I just bought and everything was expertly done! Dan's rate was very fair and I already have plans for him to do more work soon!"

Small jobs welcome

Hi, my name is Andrey, and I own Instant Home Improvements. I've had my company for two years, but I have seven years of experience in construction. I've worked mostly in northeastern New Jersey. I'm based in Sussex County, but I can travel to the surrounding counties. I have experience remodeling bathrooms, kitchens, and flooring, but my distinguishing skill is my knowledge of drywall installation and spackle application. I do most of the work inside homes. I always strive to ensure the client is happy with the finished project. I enjoy seeing the before and after of a home renovation and knowing that I did everything possible to make it turn out well.\n

"This is the second time I've had the Maori Brothers complete handyman projects for me, and have to say that I am more than pleased with their work. I'd done some serious damage to the drywall in my living room while trying to hang a wide set of drapes. The Maori Brothers repaired the damage and got the drapes properly hung. In addition, I had them take away three large pieces of furniture. Their courtesy, work ethic, and cheerful attitude are added bonuses to their always reliable and excellent work. I wish I could take them with me as I move out of state!"

"Had an outstanding experience with J&R Home improvement, recently. Jose responded right away to our request to install a bathroom vanity and he was able to complete the job on the next day. Jose was efficient, patient courteous, reliable, attentive to the particular job details and always happy to accommodate our requests. He offered reasonable pricing with multiple ways to pay for the services and was always available via phone or email whenever we needed something. Highly recommend this company and will use again in the future."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use food coloring to find a pool leak. Alternatively, you can use pool detection dyes that are nontoxic and biodegradable. Depending on how much food dye you have on hand, it may be more cost-effective to use pool dyes.

The dye test is one of the best swimming pool leak detection tools because the dyes are heavier than water. By observing where the dye gets sucked in, you can find the location of your leak.

Yes. A pool pH too high may result in a rash, red, or stinging eyes for swimmers. It means chlorine isn't as abundant as it needs to be to neutralize germs. A pH that is too low means the water is too acidic, which can cause similar bodily irritation and damage to your pool's lining and the surrounding plaster, stone, or tile.

Any number between 7.2 and 7.8 is an ideal pH for swimming pools or 80 to 120 ppm. Your pool testing kit should be able to measure both of these numbers. If your pool’s pH is below this range, the water is too acidic and can cause scaling and damage to pool equipment. If the water’s pH is above this range, it can decrease the effectiveness of necessary chemicals, like chlorine.

Yes, you will need building permits for an inground pool, and your pool installation company should pull them for you. The permit filing fee will usually sit between $400 and $1,800, and it should appear on your contract or invoice. You may want to confirm with your contractor that they will pull all necessary permits. You might also need a permit for a new fence, as many municipalities have special fencing requirements for properties with pools. A fence permit costs between $50 and $500. This expense may not be included in your pool installation estimate.

Yes, adding a pool to your property will almost always increase your homeowners insurance premiums. This is because pools are considered a greater liability due to their potentially hazardous nature, and the added replacement cost of the pool is factored into your home's rebuilding cost when considering coverage limits. The amount of the increase can range from as little as $50 to a few hundred dollars more per year, depending on your insurance provider, location, current coverage, and the safety features installed. Before building a pool, it is highly recommended to contact your insurance agent to get an estimate, discuss their specific guidelines and requirements, and factor the increased premium into your total pool installation costs.
