"Mark and his partner did an amazing job sprucing up our flower beds! We had a lot of overgrown weeds, and they worked incredibly hard to get everything cleaned up. Mark’s pricing was very reasonable, and he was willing to work within our budget for this project. The before-and-after photos speak for themselves. We’re extremely happy with the results and will definitely be hiring this company again. Thank you for a job well done!"

"We recently hired County Wide Paving to demolish an old parking lot in our backyard, and we couldnâ t be happier with the results! Our home was previously zoned for commercial use, and the parking lot was a major eyesore. CWP made the process of transforming that space into something usable and attractive for our family seamless. From the start, their team was friendly, fast, and efficient. They communicated clearly every step of the way, keeping us informed of the timeline and progress. They even went the extra mile by providing information on a service they donâ t offer, ensuring I got a fair price by consulting their colleagues on my behalf. They were also flexible with us as we asked for a couple of changes, including clearing some underbrush along our fence line. Of course, there was an additional fee, but it was fair and within our budget The level of respect they showed to my mother-in-law, who lives with us, was especially appreciated. Itâ s rare to find a company that not only provides great value but also treats everyone involved with such kindness and professionalism. If youâ re looking for a paving service that goes above and beyond, I highly recommend County Wide Paving"

"It went great. Sergei provided me with a formal estimate and kept in touch over text or email. I kept adding services throughout the day because they were doing such a good job, I could have had them for a here month! Everytime they completed a part of the job we did a walkthrough to makes sure we were pleased and they would adjust, or touch up where necessary."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Generally speaking, tiles are for indoor use, while pavers are for outdoor use. The main difference between travertine tiles and pavers is their thickness. Tiles are around 1/2 inch thick, and pavers are 1 1/4 inches to 2 inches thick.

Pavers are more rugged and can handle different weather. The extra thickness on pavers also makes them ideal for high-traffic areas.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

Whether you should resurface or replace your asphalt driveway heavily depends on its condition. If the foundation is solid and the damage is minor, resurfacing is your best bet because it’s more affordable and faster than replacing the driveway. But if your driveway has foundational problems and/or severe damage, like large, deep cracks and potholes, then it makes more sense to replace it.

Driveway paving costs around $4,500 on average, but depending on many factors, you could pay anywhere from $2,500 to $6,600 or more. The size of your driveway will usually be the most significant factor, with more square footage increasing your costs. You can expect to pay between $2 and $15 per square foot for paving services. Some other factors that play a role include the following:

  • Quality of the materials

  • Contractor’s experience and expertise

  • Site preparation and grading, if necessary

  • Layout of your driveway
