"Angell and Crew at Quality Tree Service did a fantastic job! Great equipment, bucket truck with good extension, chipper, log mover. Took out a large maple behind my garage plus 3 other small trees along with a pile of other timbers. Cleaned up well after. Great teamwork, know their trade well. Final price as quoted. Would definitely recommend and use again myself. Sent from my iPhone"

"B&N Enterprises Nicholas (Nick) Freeborn did a great job. June 16 we had a storm 100 MPH winds our tree on peak of second story metal roof. Tree had to be lifted off which was done professionally and clean up was excellent and other damaged trees where taken down with no problem in a safe manor. Would have him do more work in the future."

"I had 4 smaller (20ft) tall pines cut down, then a large dead tree along with a very tall (30ft) pine tree cut down. All the wood was taken off the property, it was cleaned up nicely, then I wanted all those stumps grinded a later date so he came back out when I asked him to and grinded all the stumps up and cleaned it up nice once again. I have recommended him to a few neighbors already, had trees cut before and this team takes the belt on being the best in my opinion. I’ll keep recommending them and will continue to use them for future projects"

"Jason did an excellent job from the beginning. He responded promptly, gave an accurate estimate, researched what needed to be done, got the necessary supplies, and got the job done. He was very personable and explained what and how he planned to remove the poison ivy, going above and beyond to ensure it was all removed, roots included. I'd highly recommend him."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

If a disease has attacked and destroyed the roots, then the tree may fall over as soon as it has died or while part of it is still alive. Trees that die with their roots left in place tend to stay standing for much longer, but those roots will decay eventually, allowing gravity to do the rest.

Usually, trees cannot grow back after their stump has been ground, but some very hearty types of trees can. For example, if you have a black locust or Redford pear, the grinding will need to go deep to prevent them from growing back. Ask your tree service or stump removal expert whether your tree can resprout after its stump is ground down.

It depends on the problem, the affected part of the tree, the risk of the pathogen spreading, and the overall health of your tree. Many diseases, fungal infections, and insect infestations can be successfully treated, especially if the issue is only in a few branches. However, if a disease is too widespread, too severe, too easily spread, or in the roots, the tree will likely need to be removed.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.

A tree growing close to a house can pose several risks, but removal isn't always the only or best solution. Potential problems include roots growing into the foundation and causing structural cracks, branches damaging the roof or promoting moss growth, and debris clogging gutters, which can lead to water damage. Trees can also provide access for pests and encourage mold. However, a small, healthy tree may not be a problem, and for larger, established trees, strategic trimming can be a cheaper and more beneficial alternative to removal. It is generally recommended to take action for trees within 10 to 20 feet of your home, especially if they are unhealthy or encroaching. Your best bet is to consult a professional arborist who can assess the specific situation and provide expert advice.
