"I spoke to Sterling, after getting his information from Home Advisor, he then showed up exactly at the time he said he would and provided an extremely reasonable estimate. He then showed up again on the day that we agreed upon and did an excellent job. Sterling and his assistant got three trees down in no time, got rid of the stumps and cleaned up the job in about 5 hours. Sterling is very friendly, accommodating, professional and the price is fair and reasonable. I would absolutely, without question, hire him again."

At 24, I’ve built a strong foundation in outdoor property services, running my own lawn care and junk removal business since receiving my driver’s license. What started as a way to enjoy working outdoors and earn reliable side income has grown into a dependable operation focused on quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. With years of hands-on experience managing physical work, scheduling routes, and delivering consistent results for homeowners, I’m now expanding my services to include professional pet waste removal—helping dog owners maintain clean, safe yards without the hassle. I take pride in reliable, respectful service and turning necessary chores into something customers don’t have to worry about.

"Deadwood calls back and comes when they say they will. I didn t think my 2 very large trees would be done in 1 day, it was amazing because it was done in 1 day. Quickly, safely and friendly work. They do the clean up, as well. I had the village ask for the wood. John said if the village doesn t get in 2 days, call him to come back and pick it up. Amazing work! Thank you Deadwood Tree Service!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Leaf removal costs between $400 and $1,000 per acre on average. Nationally, the cost of leaf removal averages about $350. Cost factors for this project include lawn size, leaf removal method, tree density, location, and the time required to do the job. If your lawn removal service charges based on lawn size, you can expect to pay $0.02 to $0.10 per square foot.

The recovery time for pruning depends on how much you prune, the species of tree, and how well you care for it afterward. All trees grow new wood and often sprout additional branches after pruning. Ideally, trees should recover from normal pruning after one or two years. Heavy pruning or slow-growing trees may take several years to fully recover.

In most cases, you should not use a pruning seal on trees after trimming. Applying a sealant can interfere with the tree's natural healing process, and it does not guarantee protection from pathogens. Instead of sealing the cut, the best practice is to support the tree's natural recovery by providing it with plenty of water and a dormant-style fertilizer. However, there are exceptions. Pruning seals may be recommended for very vulnerable species, like elm trees, in areas where dangerous diseases such as Dutch elm disease are prevalent. In these specific situations, the protection offered by a sealant can outweigh its downsides. For advice tailored to your situation, especially after cutting large branches, it is best to consult a local tree trimming professional.

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.

Some people prefer to leave or even carve a leftover stump, but we recommend removing it if possible. You can often dig out smaller trunks with a shovel once they have died and dried out. You can have stumps professionally removed, or request a service to grind them down to ground level so they can be replaced with other landscaping or objects.
