Larry M. Goodman, President/Owner of Pinnacle Motor Works Inc. Larry's first car was a 1958 190 Diesel Mercedes. He started his career with a Mercedes dealership after graduating college at Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1975. After graduation, Larry went to work as a technician at Mercedes and BMW dealerships from 1975 - 1983, until, in 1983, he broke away to set up his own independent garage. Clearly, it was the correct decision and that is when Pinnacle Motor Works was created. Larry acquired his USA Master ASE Technician L1 Certification in 1997. Yung S. Tan (Wing) Vice President/Owner has been Larry's business partner Since 2003. Wing is a Master Technician with over 30 years of experience and he is also a BOSCH Certified Technician. Wing has mentored the technicians in the shop while helping them strengthen their skills with his many years of knowledge of European vehicles. "We are equipped to handle any make and model, from fresh off the showroom to classics," Larry says. "Our customers form a relationship with us because they want to keep driving their cars long after the warranty expires." “We offer our customers a state-of-the-art auto repair shop with updated equipment.” notes Larry. “We are committed to providing high-quality, friendly service at fair prices, and all our technicians are factory trained and always current with the new technology.” While Pinnacle will service and repair all kinds of cars, its primary focus is European vehicles, especially German. BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche and more are taken care of in a clean and well-maintained environment at its Stirling location.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Doorbell wires typically won't spark because they carry low voltage. However, if there's a short circuit or damaged wiring, sparking could occur. Always turn off the power at the breaker box before working with doorbell wires to prevent any risk. If you notice any sparking, it's a sign of a problem that a professional electrician should address.

When removing an old security alarm system, you likely won't need to remove any of the wiring. Wiring can either be left in place for a replacement system or capped off for safety and pushed into the wall. If you're uncomfortable with the wiring, or if it's badly damaged, contact a professional electrician for assistance with safe removal.

Heated floors use less electricity than traditional heating systems. The average electric bill for running radiant floor heating nonstop is around $3 per day. For example, a 1,500-watt electric space heater costs around $4.80 per day, a 27,000-BTU electric boiler costs around $6.25 per day, and a 100,000-BTU electric heater costs $46 per day.

A 10,000-watt generator can run a small to mid-sized central AC unit (typically up to 3 tons or 36,000 BTU) along with a few other appliances. However, larger AC units or additional loads will require a bigger generator. Consult a local generator installer to ensure you add the correct size generator to your home.

Homeowners should avoid replacing a circuit breaker without turning it off. While you technically can replace a circuit breaker without turning off the main breaker—and professionals can and do—it’s only safe for electricians to use this process. Working with a live panel is extremely dangerous if you don’t have experience working with electricity. Always follow safety measures to avoid electrical shock.
