The deck and railings were installed and it went downhill from there. As far as waterproofing, this is a multi-layer surface that would seem to seal quite nicely. However, as the tenants soon found out, all of the patio furniture on the porch was sinking into the deck! Instead of a hard epoxy surface (that I had requested), Naples applied a spongy rubber finish. When it is warmed up by the sun, you can push your finger into the surface...it's that soft! Plus the tenants were complaining that the granular material imbedded in the new deck was coming off and being tracked into the house scratching the new hardwood floors. To top it off, the installation was horrible! They removed pieces of siding and never replaced them. They splashed a tar-like material all over the siding. The seams and corners were patches randomly placed...looked terrible. Again, this was going to be used for entertaining...not some deck that would never be used or seen. The railings were horrible! There were runs, bubbles, drips, and sagging paint everywhere. The paint was soft and gooey even after it was installed. There was even hair and dust embedded into the paint! But wait! I had requested powder-coat not paint! Naples agreed to have it fixed, but unfortunately, it would be about five weeks before we got the railings re-installed. Finally got the railings back and they looked great. However, within three weeks all of the welded areas started to rust! I was then told that the type of welding material used could be painted but not properly powder-coated. Naples had these railings built and should have chosen the appropriate materials for the application. Naples and his fence guy agreed to meet with us to resolve this but each time a meeting was scheduled they never showed up. They had their money...see ya! James Naples talks a good game, but that is about the extent of it. I can't meet with them, and they no longer return my calls or emails. Check around, search the reviews...you will see there are many others who have also had bad experiences with Naples. This used to be a good business until James Naples took it over from his father. Obviously Jr. does not follow the same standards that his father had! A root ball is supposed to be left intact and is supposed to be twice the width of the largest part of the tree. They did a good job removing the large bushes and picking up the yard. The edging was a joke. It is extremely uneven all around. They were supposed to edge the lawn parallel with the sidewalk. Instead, it is off by a foot and a half from one end to the other...and we are only talking about a 7 foot sidewalk! The other edge around the main bushes in front, slopes away from the house by at least two feet from one end to the other. They never did edge the curb that I had asked them to do. In fact, they just left around noon and never came back! No phone calls. Nothing to ask if there was anything else I needed or if everything was ok. Horton offers his crew for half day or full day and his rate is fixed. I was billed for the half day rate, but to me, three and a half hours of work is not exactly a half day. They only planted two out of six bushes. The other four were just left on the patio! They didn't even rototill the dirt and remove the dead vines at the location where these four bushes were to go...AS SPECIFIED IN THE CONTRACT! I was so disappointed that I did not want them back to fix anything or even give them a chance to make it right...not that they would have anyway...read the other reviews online. The result of that is one section sags badly in the middle. Membrane was planned to cover the roofs, but the workers had no idea about how to install it. The material was cut short, and, instead of being glued down, it was nailed, resulting in holes in the membrane. It will only be a matter of time before it begins to leak around the edges and through the nail holes. One part of one roof was supposed to be covered in a translucent material - so that light would get through for plants on the porch. The material used was cut short so that every time the wind blows, the roof material flaps and separates from the other sections resulting in large gaps in the roof. In part, due to these gaps, as well as gaps created by the roof covering being too short, every time it rains, it is almost as if there is no roof at all since that porch is completely wet. In addition, flashing was not installed correctly where the roof joins the house, so water runs down the side of the house. Furthermore, no gutters were installed, so water dripping off the roof blows into the porch. Other problems. 1. While the work was ongoing, a tarp was used to cover the work area, but the tarp was too small and water got into the open area during several rainstorms before repairs were complete. 2. A window in the kitchen was broken, and the crew left for the day leaving it completely open without bothering to contact us about the problem. We were both at work at the time and did not arrive home for several hours after they left, so not only was this a potential risk for vandalism, but we have indoor cats who could have escaped without our knowledge. Furthermore, glass was sprayed over a wide area in the kitchen, including in the cats' food and water bowls. 3. The job went on for 4 weeks - significantly longer than the 6-8 days that was estimated. Part of the problem was that they did not come daily, but showed up intermittently without letting us know what days they would be working. 4. He significantly underestimated the costs and he kept coming back asking for additional funds. We ended up having to pay an additional 50% in costs by the end of the job."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ny/groton/hudson-enterprise-reviews-2080991.htm"},"position":7},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Allen's Plumbing Heating and A/C","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"NY","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Dan M."},"reviewBody":"Called Allen's out to service my boiler and tankless water heater as I have used them in the past and refer them to many clients.

I picked it up a few days after I actually made the purchase (b/c of Martin Luther King Jr Day, the banks were closed the first Monday). The salesman had made the promise that they would give the car a good once over before handing it over, topping off the fluids, changing the oil, and just giving it a good bill of health. Within 5 minutes of driving it off the lot, I discovered that the heated leather seats didn't work, that the \"low coolant\" alarm was going off, and that the steering wheel squeaked when I turned it while going slowly. I called Fox as soon as I got back to work, and made arrangements to drop it off the next day for them to fix the steering wheel (I did my research and discovered that Jeep had put out a bulletin stating that the steering wheel squeaks when driving at low 'parking lot speeds'- why I didn't notice it on my test drive). I went out on my own and purchased and refilled the coolant, and was willing to overlook the heated seats. Next day comes and the \"fabulous service center\" calls and tells me they won't cover the fix of the squeaky steering wheel under their warranty b/c they don't think it's actually a mechanical issue, more of an annoyance- What? It's an issue put out by Jeep directly involving the power steering, but Fox doesn't want to spend the 50 bucks to fix it? That got me a little ticked, so I went in to speak with them about it. I brought up the coolant and they explained to me that a sensor was bad that they repaired, and it must have caused a bubble, which is why the alarm went off. They were so rude to me that I decided I would fight them on the one thing I could- the heated seats. The car was advertised with the heated seats, I paid for that car, and I wanted the seats. He tried to tell me they couldn't give me the seats b/c they had lost so much money on the deal. I stuck to my guns, he brought his manager, they finally said they'd split the cost, $500 each. I said nope, I'll just take a check for $500 then. He gave me the seat (which tells you that the cost of the new seat was less than $500, so they were trying to make me pay for them anyway, and disguise it as giving me a break by splitting it with me). They tried to make me pay for 2 repairs that should have been fixed by them, before they let me take it off the lot. I had to really fight to get the heated seats fixed, and the squeaky steering wheel still hasn't been fixed. Now here I am, two months later, and the sensor for the coolant they \"fixed\" has already gone bad. I understand it was just a cheap little used vehicle, and it wasn't some huge sale, but it was still a sale, and it was a lot of money to me. I can't believe how poorly I was treated, and how different this business is from its commercials. They don't care about making it right, and they certainly do a 180 after the car is sold. If they would have just fixed the squeaky steering wheel from the start, I would’ve walked away still a happy customer. The fact that they fought me on such a small, easy repair really shows the caliber of this place."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ny/painted-post/fox-auto-group-reviews-2338285.htm"},"position":9}]}

"Blaze Brockway Contracting — To Blaze & his talented team — Thank you for your amazing work!!! What a project you undertook. We started out with some updates — screened porch & siding. Inspecting our home, you quickly discovered severe structural issues. Previous contractors never followed the standard codes for construction. My home was at risk - I had rotting footers , an add-on room that was rotted & falling down, a metal roof that was wet under the metal & hid mold issues, a deck that was not installed according to state standards and was shifting with our NY weather conditions, & sadly so much more . Blaze worked with us & our budget to resolve these issues. He made helpful suggestions on issues that needed to be addressed immediately. Blaze & the team stuck with us for 6 weeks of repairs, never leaving our site for other jobs. The team tore down the existing roof & built a beautiful new roof; they tore down & rebuil"

FAQs for patio cover service projects in Corning, NY
While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct home features. Porches offer a roof that protects from the elements when coming and going from the house. Generally, porches are on the front of your home. On the other hand, decks are generally built in the backyard of a home and offer no roof or protection from the elements, like rain or snow. Porches typically require less maintenance and upkeep thanks to the roof, but both features require regular cleaning and repairs to maintain good condition.
The cost of an awning is $1,400 to $4,400 on average. However, this cost could be as low as $100 or as high as $7,500, depending on a few factors. The type of awning you choose, the size you need, and your location all affect your overall cost.
For example, portable awnings you can put up and take down yourself range from $100 to $400, whereas motorized awnings are more luxurious and cost between $2,000 and $3,500.
The cost to build a deck is $8,025 on average. However, this cost can range anywhere from $1,500 to $22,000, depending on multiple factors, such as size, materials, and deck type. You can expect to pay $30 to $60 per square foot when building a new deck.
Cedar decks are often the most cost-effective option, ranging from $4 to $9per square foot for materials. However, pressure-treated decking, which is resistant to rot, is more expensive, ranging from $15 to $25 per square foot for materials.
Awnings are either fixed or retractable and can be paired with a variety of cover materials. Fixed awnings are a permanent outdoor feature of a building. These are highly durable and require ongoing maintenance. Once installed, the position of this awning cannot be changed.
Retractable awnings are more popular than fixed awnings since the cover can open and close. This allows homeowners to open and close the awning, depending on the weather. When not in use, it can be closed to allow for extra space.
Besides the type of awning, you’ll need to choose the type of cover. Your awning installation professional will review your options with you, including availability and costs. The types of covers you can choose from include:
Wood, which is durable but can be damaged easily by rainwater and fire
Cotton offers flexibility, weatherproofing, and easy cleaning
Canvas is highly durable and is a good choice for retractable awnings
Metal is sturdy but is prone to rust
Polyester is easy to clean and is a more breathable option
Polycarbonate is highly resistant to UV rays and is difficult to damage
