With respect to advising on replacing the door knob sets, I knew the openings were too large for the mortise set I needed installed and suggested that we could fill the hole and then recut to insert the set properly. He said this was not really possible and told me the size of mortise lock that I needed to buy and that the ones I had purchased wouldn't work.
