"My issues with Selmas and Zach(the owner) started right from the beginning.  He was over an hour late to the first meeting I had scheduled with him.  Our next meeting was scheduled at the granite yard - he never showed up at all for this meeting.  We had a total of 4 or 5 meetings, none of which he bothered showing to on time.  I purchase 2 slabs of granite for a kitchen counter.  Selmas fabricated the counter top for me.  After the cuts were made for the counter top, there were two pieces that were not needed.  We had multiple discussions as to what I wanted to do with the extra pieces.  In the end, I decided to hold on to them as I could not decide what to do with them.  On multiple occasions, Zach said he would deliver the extra pieces to me at no charge.  He even went as far as saying when he could have them delivered by.  He just asked that I take care of his delivery guys.  After almost 2 months of chasing him down, he has still not delivered the pieces and now refuses to do so without charging me $500.  He told me that I could come pick them up whenever I felt like it.   I would not use or recommend Zach and Selmas Granite to anyone."

Marble and Granite questions, answered by experts

Marble floors can crack if you aren’t careful, especially if the floors haven’t been properly installed or maintained. Marble does not withstand impact well, so falling objects like pots and pans can crack the material. Certain environmental conditions can also lead to cracks, such as excess humidity and severe temperature fluctuations. If you notice a crack, address it promptly to keep the issue from spreading.

It’s not a good idea to lay tile and grout on the same day. The adhesive or thin-set that sticks the tiles to the surface needs plenty of time to dry before you can grout. Wait for 24 to 48 hours, depending on moisture levels in the space. The tiles can become misaligned and more prone to damage if you don’t wait.

Most marble floors last at least 25 years, and they can last forever with proper care and maintenance. As a natural stone product, they have the edge when it comes to lasting longer than synthetic or softer materials, but they can become damaged. Grit and dirt that get ground into the surface will wear away the layers of stone over time, so cleaning and routine maintenance are necessary. In particular, regular sweeping and annual polishing and sealing will keep them looking beautiful and prevent wear and damage.

To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.

Tile flooring will last anywhere from 10 to 20 years and even up to 30 years or more with proper care and maintenance.

You can help your tile floor achieve a longer lifespan by maintaining it properly. This includes cleaning it regularly (including cleaning the tile floor grout), keeping the floor dry, and not setting super heavy items on it to keep it from cracking. You'll also want to regrout your tile floor every 10 years. Using a grout sealer will help your floor last longer.
