"Stewart and Rachel were both friendly, excellent communicators. They were able to get to me within the week when most other services had. 5-6 week wait. They quoted me a fair price and stuck to it. Highly professional and efficientâ I would recommend the Peopleâ s Chimney service to anyone in the area."

Chimney Sweep FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, mineral spirits are flammable and may spontaneously combust at temperatures of 200 degrees F or more. Storing them in well-ventilated spaces and disposing of them the proper way are the best ways to prevent mineral spirits or anything contaminated with them, like towels and rags, from going up in smoke.

Ozone smoke removal uses an ozone generator to eliminate stubborn odors from sources like house fires, wildfires, or cigarette smoke. Ozone (O3) is a highly reactive and unstable gas that effectively neutralizes smoke odors through a process called oxidation. It 'donates' its extra oxygen molecule to the organic compounds causing the smell, altering their structure and eliminating the odor, with oxygen being the primary byproduct. This method can be effective on building materials and furniture. However, because improper use of an ozone generator can be dangerous to your health, this treatment is best left to a professional.

Neglecting to clean your chimney can lead to serious safety hazards. A primary risk is the buildup of creosote, a highly flammable substance that can ignite and cause a dangerous chimney fire. This buildup can also create blockages in the flue, resulting in poor venting of smoke, soot, and toxic gases like carbon monoxide, which can then enter your home and create dangerously poor indoor air quality. Additionally, creosote is acidic and can damage the chimney's mortar and metal components over time, potentially allowing smoke to leak into your house. To prevent these issues, it is essential to schedule an annual chimney cleaning with a professional.

Costs depend on the extent of damage, material restoration, labor, and emergency service requirements.

Yes, many HVAC professionals offer emergency repair services for furnaces and other heating systems. These services are especially common during the winter and colder seasons when functional heating is crucial.
