"Ricky at Allied Construction was willing to postpone work due to our family emergency. He was prompt and considerate, calling to let us know if his crew was delayed. His crew was knowledgeable and completed our concrete patio and walkway in record time. Ricky also added two gates to our metal fence. I would highly recommend him!"

"We contracted with APS Inc. to remove rotted header and three upright posts on our back porch and replace with new stronger header to support two 6 inch rounded post. Not only does the replacement remove the rotten wood but also opens up the view of the back yard. We are very satisfied with the work and cleanup."

"I cannot say enough wonderful things about this service. I called on Saturday and they arrived on Monday morning. They were punctual, professional and friendly. The manager showed up first and was friendly and professional. The two ladies that performed the service were wonderful. They were friendly, moved quickly and did a fabulous job for a great price. I highly recommend this service."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

A joint utility trench, or joint trench, is a long, buried ditch on a property that contains two or more utility lines rather than running the lines in multiple trenches. Some utilities, like gas and electric or electric and communication lines, are better suited to joint trenching, while others, like water and sewer, are not allowed to be in the same trench.

Drilled wells have a pipe sticking up that’s covered in a plastic or metal casing. On the other hand, a dug well will look like a big hole in the ground and is more similar to what you’d see in a fantasy or Western movie. If you want to be sure, contact the city for documentation on your property’s construction and excavation history.

Yes, chipmunk holes may have two or more entrances. Chipmunks can create an entire network of burrows. Having multiple entrances makes it easier for them when trying to escape from a predator, such as a snake, or if an entrance collapses due to flooding. Each entrance leads to the nesting chamber underground, which is where the chipmunk spends the majority of its time sleeping.

A crawl space can be as little as 42 inches below the grade of your house, but this is not always recommended in flood-prone areas. At a minimum, there must be at least 16 inches of clearance between the ground and the floor joists to access the space in an emergency.

Trenches are typically 12 to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, the required depth depends on the specific project and local ordinances. For example, a French drain may need to be 18 inches deep, while a water pipe might require a depth of 24 inches and a drainage pipe 36 inches. Your city or county may have specific regulations, so it's wise to consult with an excavation professional to determine the correct depth for your project.
