Like, 100k or materials. We were out there with them almost every day watching and helping their “crew”, so we know that was bogus. We went to court with them and everything. Concrete should not be poured directly over grass, as this will impede the necessary tension of the concrete. Grass and soil can draw in moisture, leading to potential cracking. For a solid, lasting foundation, the area must be flat, firm, and completely dry.

Concrete can take years to fully settle, but interior concrete floors are mostly settled after a year. Shifting and settling can occur throughout your home’s life, but most major settling happens the first few years after the concrete is poured. It’s not uncommon for minor cracks to appear in concrete floors over time—check with a concrete pro to ensure new cracks don’t indicate a structural issue in your home.

You should put gravel that is 3/4 to 1 inch under a concrete slab. However, depending on the project, local building codes may dictate the proper gravel size and shape. Some concrete slabs that do not hold significant weight may have a subbase of sand. Also, keep in mind that the subbase you choose will affect the cost of your concrete patio, walkway, or driveway.
