"Michelle was a pleasure to work with. She was able to work around my schedule for the consultation and installation. I gave her a general idea of the type of blinds I was looking for and she was able to give me several suggestions at various price points and informed me of any promotions that were being offered. Michelle had great suggestions and was very helpful in picking out colors even though my walls had not yet been painted. The blinds arrived in the time frame she had given and the installation was quick and painless. I am complimented on my blinds by everyone who visits. I would use Michelle again and recommend her to everyone.

"Ecolecuá offers a unique collaborative approach with her clients. On our project, she struck the perfect balance; she listened to our ideas and feedback but very much maintained her role as the creative expert, making us feel comfortable the entire time. I would absolutely recommend Ecolecuá with no hesitation. With all she has done, she is going to find the right approach for just about any client. "Everything went great! Ronda has an excellent eye for design, listened to our ideas and needs, and provided her own ideas that we didn't even think of. She also took us granite and tile shopping. She created a few layouts for us to choose from, and she worked with us to figure out which one worked best for us. We used her contractor, Steve, and his crew, who did a great job as well. This was our first remodel, and we were a little nervous about it, but they let us know how they were doing the whole way through. The end result is gorgeous! We were so pleased with Ronda that we plan on using her again for a bathroom remodel!"

"I was not satisfied with the plan that BHR Interior Design gave. I don't feel that they listened to our budget and what the goals of our project were. They provided us with two options to move forward and only one of them seem to speak to what we needed. I gave them some of the same feedback that going with them gave some constraints that we were going to live with such as we were only allowed to use their cabinet company. Their cabinet company was remarkably more expensive. Why would somebody spend almost $50,000 on cabinet for a company who's never really heard of. Again, couldn't find anything bad about it but couldn't find anything good about it. It was just not attractive for my husband and I, we wanted to make sound decisions. The design was beautiful but it was just wasn't what we were looking for. It took a long time to come up with the two option. I will probably not use them again."

"The design was totally useless to me. I was extremely disappointed.

Most interior designers have at least a four-year degree, if not an advanced degree in interior design. Additionally, many states require interior designers to be licensed. If your state does not require licensing, interior designers can take a licensing exam with the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Overall, licensing requirements vary from state to state, but most licenses require certain education levels and experience to qualify. To check the qualifications of your interior designer, use Angi’s state licensing tool.
The difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator is that the interior decorator focuses on the space’s colors, furniture, art, and finishes. An interior designer goes beyond that to plan and execute layouts, structural changes, and overall functionality in addition to aesthetics that the decorator manages. We recommend hiring an interior designer for major remodeling projects and hiring an interior decorator to establish or enhance your home’s interior style.
On average, hiring an interior designer costs about $8,200, ranging from $200 to $65,000, depending on where you live, the size of your home, and the type of decor. The total price tag of interior design services is based on whether they provide consultation and implementation as well as any specialty design services, such as home staging or digital design mock-ups. Residential interior designers typically charge an hourly rate of $50 to $200 per hour, or up to $500 per hour in areas with high demand.
Hiring an interior designer is often worth the investment, especially for larger projects beyond DIY interior design and project management skills. However, the decision to hire an interior designer depends on your budget and the size of the project. Some benefits of hiring an interior designer include:
Realizing the best layout and decor for optimal functionality of the space for your taste, budget, and lifestyle
Managing your project to keep the job on track and within budget
Assistance with home staging ahead of home sale
Serving as a point of contact for contractors
Accessing discounts from local suppliers
Before hiring an interior designer, ask a few questions to better understand how they work, what’s expected of you, and what they promise to deliver.
How long will the project take to complete?
What type of services do you offer?
Can you provide a project estimate?
Do you work with subcontractors?
Are you licensed or certified in this state?
Do you have a portfolio of previous work I can review?
May I contact your customer references?
How do you handle change orders?
How do you handle payment?
