"On the Job Painting exceeded our expectations. They just completed an exterior paint job of our shingles and trim. The crew was prompt, clean, courteous and meticulous with their work. Keith checked in regularly to insure we were being taken care of. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a painting contractor, and I will contact them again if we decide to do any interior painting work in the future. You may get quotes from other companies that come in lower, but do not be fooled. On the Job Painting performs at a higher quality than the average company. For this type of investment we are happy we chose them over other bids."

"very well. However, the painter contracted out job and had 2 other people show up and do the job. They were very good and neat, but it should have been communicated to me that the person I expected to be doing the job would NOT be doing it. Instead, he commissioned the job out to a third party."

"If I could, I would give Father and Daughter Painting 100 stars! I’ve never had painters who pay such attention to detail. I had a huge hole which needed repair and painting- no one can find the previous damage. When they are done working you’d never know they were in your home because they make sure everything is clean and all furniture is put back where it belongs. When our patio was painted, they not only moved the furniture but power washed the patio and put down a primer. No other painter did this. Aside from stellar service; their prices are extremely reasonable."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

Here's the deal with leaving used rags covered in oil-based stain lying around in a pile: Depending on the conditions, these rags can take just an hour or up to a few days to combust. The source of ignition is caused by trapped heat that can be compounded if the rags are near a heat source.

It’s best to use an exterior latex acrylic paint to promote maximum adhesion to composite decking. This flexible paint type can better cope with the natural expansion and contraction that can occur with composite deck boards. Oil-based paints won’t adhere as effectively and are more likely to crack and peel as the boards flex. Testing whether your chosen paint will stick on an inconspicuous section or a spare board is a good idea.

The need for a topcoat on a painted deck depends on various factors, primarily the type of paint used and your desired level of protection. Many premium deck paint formulations are self-sealing, eliminating the necessity for an additional topcoat. These paints often have built-in additives that substantially protect against moisture, UV rays, and everyday wear and tear.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.
