"Dexter was very professional and did a great job. The chair upholstery was really dirty but now they are clean. When I saw the dirty water thathis huge machine he cleaned with I was shocked. Now they look great. Definitely will use him again. The price was reasonable and I was satisfied."

Couch Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

Simple filter changes can be done DIY, but professionals should handle motor repairs, sensor issues, and airflow problems.

Washing your carbon filter can damage the fibers and make it less effective. While removing the dust from the filter gently is possible, we don’t recommend you wash and reuse the filters once they have reached the end of their lifespan.

Even if you don’t have an exhaust, you can still use a carbon filter in line with a duct fan. This method is known as “scrubbing” because it cleans particles from the air and recirculates the air within your space. This method allows you to keep your enclosed garden space sealed from the outside environment.

The lifespan of a whole-house air purifier or filtration system depends on several factors, but with proper maintenance, they are built to last. A whole-house system that integrates with your home's ductwork can last 10 to 15 years, or even for the entire lifetime of your existing HVAC system. To maximize the unit's lifespan, perform regular cleanings, change filters as recommended, and schedule an annual inspection to catch potential issues early. The system's longevity also depends on its frequency of use and how hard it must work to maintain your desired air quality. For comparison, smaller, portable air filter systems typically last between five and ten years.

Costs depend on unit type, replacement parts, labor, and whether ductwork needs cleaning or adjustments.
