Our foreman Huibel did a wonderful job of keeping my mom informed on a daily basis of his progress. He and his crew did excellent, quality work and my mom was super happy with the finished product. Monk's has done a lot of work for us in the past in addition to the flooring and painting, including wainscotting, window and door install, as well as a new composite deck. We are hiring them again to paint the interior of the garage and to install some workbenches and shelving for storage. We can't wait for this work to be done as it's going to make a huge difference. "Dave provided my wife and me a quote for renovations, and once we agreed, he began the demolition work. The crew knocked down the walls and installed new sheetrock in both the kitchen and bathrooms. We also decided to cut down the sewer pipes and install new PVC pipes. During this process, the first incident occurred when his crew used the bathroom and flushed the toilet, which caused all the waste to flow into the basement due to the unconnected pipes. Dave assured us he would handle the situation, only for us to discover that he charged a purchase of Resolve to our credit card to address the issue. We gradually bought all the necessary materials using a credit card supplied by my wife, while I also went online to shop at stores like Home Depot and Mayfair. After a little over a month, he finished the upstairs bathroom. In the kitchen, he managed to install the cabinets in time for the countertops to be placed. However, while the kitchen sink was installed, the plumbing was not connected to the water supply. Likewise, the kitchen appliances were not hooked up: the dishwasher remained unconnected, the refrigerator was not installed, and the smart thermostat was never set up. Only the stove and the hood range were connected. After he installed the new PVC pipes, I ran the water for a few minutes to test the plumbing. Unfortunately, we experienced flooding in our basement. Water spilled out from our old sewer line, which had not been capped, as well as from the sewer clean-out and all the way upstairs where the kitchen plumbing was not connected. This flooding caused our wood floors in the kitchen to warp and damaged the basement, potentially leading to mold issues. I confronted Dave several times about helping us clean up and remove the damaged carpets, but he failed to show up for two weeks. Eventually, we decided to terminate his services and sought professional help from other contractors. We hired Poseidon Plumbing and have evidence of debris and blockages resulting from the work done by Wise Choice Construction LLC. Additionally, we had to pay for electrical and roofing professionals on top of the plumbing costs to rectify this unfortunate situation."

We met with John Fiore and were very impressed with his responsiveness, flexibility, and partnership throughout this massive project. He responded to calls, email and texts within minutes, was always available and communicative through the process (which is hard to find but so valued, especially as we were living about 1.5 hours away during the renovation). John always did the right thing for the project (either proactively letting us know when changes needed to be made or absorbing costs into the project). For example, the floors got damaged during demo when combining two rooms. He just gave us new floors without asking us to pay because it was the right thing to do. Also, his team was meticulous about laying tiles, mapping out electrical, etc. If we had a problem or didn’t like something, they fixed it at no additional cost. John was so patient and calming throughout the renovation. One thing everyone warned us about was planning for the budget to double through a project this big. John’s team kept such meticulous track of the expenses (including light fixture, tiles, etc) and we actually received a credit towards our project because we stayed under budget for most of our selections. This is completely unheard of and I am so impressed with how organized their processes are. We really felt that Garden State made a big and challenging construction process as positive of an experience as possible. We hired them to do our back deck and have referred them to many of our friends and neighbors who have been blown away by the renovation of our hike. We will hire them for all future projects based on our really great experience with them!"

"Do not hire him m. He is a scam artist. He will take advance money from you for work but then will never show up or answer your call. He did some bathroom remodeling work but that was also horrible. Again he is a scam. Be very careful with him"
