They fixed our shower plumbing and added an acces panel for the shower. They installed a new ceiling fan. They re-faced our rotted deck and replaced several joists. Replaced both sets of stairs and set them in concrete. Amazing woodworking, professionalism, punctual, truly good people that you can actually trust. All work was done in a very timely fashion. In some cases, stairs without carpet are actually slipperier than carpeted stairs, but if the carpet is brand new, dirty, or just slick, it may seem like your stairs are the most slippery ones in existence. Fortunately, traction treads can be added over most stair surface materials, increasing the traction you’re able to get and reducing the risk of slipping.

Technically, you can install carpet without padding. While skipping the padding can help you save on the project, it will make the carpet less comfortable and show uneven spots or imperfections in the subfloor. Because carpet padding protects the back of the carpet from wear, a carpet without padding can wear out faster than one with it. Carpet padding also cuts down on noise, so forgoing it can affect the acoustics in the room.

Vinyl and laminate flooring can have a similar life span. Both well-maintained laminate and luxury vinyl flooring can last up to 25 years. The exception is the thinner type of vinyl flooring that comes in sheets and lasts less than 10 years. It’s important to note that vinyl is waterproof, whereas you can ruin laminate if it absorbs too much moisture.

Stretching a carpet should be a one-time job. If by re-stretching you mean doing it a second (or third) time, it’s probably better to replace it altogether. Most carpets are expected to last anywhere from five to 15 years, so if it’s past that timeframe, you may want to shop around for a new one.

Laminate flooring takes about 24 to 48  hours to settle. Before this, planks are not completely acclimated to your home, and walking on them could cause shifting and permanent damage to the flooring. You should allow floorboards to acclimate for 48 to 72 hours before installing so that they can adjust to your home’s humidity and temperature levels, but they will continue to acclimate and settle after installation. For this reason, avoid placing any furniture in the room for 72 hours after installation.

Your floors will continue to settle for a few months after installation, becoming less bouncy as they rest.
