"Anthony Nastasi of NB Woodworks, LLc, has our highest recommendation. He has worked with us over the past year on a variety of projects aimed at refurbishing and improving our home. This has included exterior trim replacement, replacing a box window with a French door and side light unit, and replacing a large unusually sized window. He also built a beautiful mahogony deck. Indoors, he installed a french door which included fine trim work. In addition, he hired excellent subcontractors to powerwash and paint our home and build a patio, porch and walks. We highly recommend Anthony's carpentry skill, as well as his problem solving, planning and coordination skills. He is also a dependable, honest person of fine character."

"ReNU Kitchen was great. They resurfaced my cabinets and did new drawers & doors. Very professional, very helpful, great quality work. 2 weeks after installation we damaged one of the doors by accident. Chris went above and beyond to repair at no additional cost. Highly recommend!"

Small jobs welcome

"We love our brand new gorgeous kitchen! Our kitchen was getting a bit grungy and worn down, and it was time to spruce it up as an investment to our home. Dave and Christian are true experts in what they do. Our cabinets are gorgeous now. And TFS's cost is much less than many other quotes we received. They were great communicators, friendly, professional, efficient, and did a great job. We highly recommend TFS Kitchens! We are very happy customers!"

Small jobs welcome

"Marino and his team (family) are absolutely fantastic. We hired them initiall to paint the custom cabinets in our new home. The cabinets were of good quality but were Oak. We wanted a more modern look. Marino came to our house, helped us pick the shade of white that would look best with out kitchen. His team came soon after, prepped the area to avoid a mess, and the finished product was beyond our expectation. So much so that we hired them again to refinish our oak fireplace. On time, quality work, friendly, and clean. What more could I say."

Customers say: True professional

"Jerry and his crew did an OUTSTANDING job on our home interior paint project. He took plenty of time to walk through the house with me and genuinely cared about my project. We had a tight timeline to get our house painted so we can put it up on the market. Jerry and Ricardo accommodated our schedule and made it happen even with their already booked (and busy) schedule. The interior paint looks absolutely amazing with crisp lines, and they even touched up around the house and fixed other small things like broken trim and an area that needed sheetrock and plaster. J & A is a family owned business that has plenty of integrity and takes pride in their work. The price was extremely reasonable and the end result was beyond our expectations. I’d trust them with any project, and we are having them do work in our new home. We are so thankful for J & A! They were friendly, committed, and prompt! A trustworthy and reliable service! Will always recommend J&A! Thank you!!!!"

FAQs for closet service projects in Howell, NJ

Building a custom closet costs about $2,000, on average. Because many types, sizes, and designs are available, the cost to build custom closets ranges from $250 to $6,000 or more. A reach-in closet is on the lower end of the price range from about $250 to $1,500, compared to a walk-in closet at $750 to $3,500 or a wardrobe at the high end between $1,500 and $6,000 or more.

The main difference between a closet and a wardrobe is that a closet is a separate room for general storage with its own door, and a wardrobe can be either built-in or freestanding place to store clothing. A walk-in or reach-in closet connected to a bedroom often serves the same purpose as a wardrobe by primarily storing clothes and shoes. A built-in wardrobe often does not have doors and leaves clothes exposed to view, whereas a standalone wardrobe usually has doors.

You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.

Different types of closets are defined mostly by size. A few different types of closets include:

  • A reach-in closet is a smaller closet that you can stand in front of and reach everything inside it. Aside from the size, the doors and the level of drywall finish are typically the largest price factors.

  • A walk-in closet can be anything from a small 5-by-5 feet closet that has a narrow walkway with shelves on both sides to a 100 square foot bedroom-sized closet with shelving along the walls and plenty of room to move around in.

  • A built-in wardrobe often does not have a door and leaves the clothes and other contents open to the room, whereas a closet usually has a door to separate it from the rest of the room.

Yes, building a custom closet can definitely add value to your home. Creating a more useful and pleasing space to your home, especially a custom closet for prospective home buyers to imagine as their own, is likely to increase the value. However, avoid overdoing it with a closet that takes up too much space that’s otherwise more useful as living space, or paying extra for overly lavish materials and finishes that aren’t likely to add more value than they cost.
