The insulation was original to the ~30 year old house, so we know it's about time to get it done. Alex checked both spaces and showed us photos of problem areas. We have an estimate and Alex explained the details of the work involved. The team came within the week (we lucked out to take the spot of a cancellation), and everything was done as expected. There was a lot of work to remove old insulations, vacuum all debris, sanitize the space, seal all air gaps, install baffles, rodent proof, and install new insulation. "We had been living in our house for 5 years and although the kitchen was a new addition, every winter my wife & I had noticed how noticeably the temperature differentiated especially after the winter of 2014/15.  And because it was a dirt floor with some wood and old construction debris strewn about.  I was not so keen on staying down there.  In doing my own investigation there was some piping and insulation under floor.
So when investigating estimates we called a number of "green" companies.  Out of the three companies that came, only Frank Petrullo with Eco Green Solutions, noticed the mold and a water leak coming from fridge line.  He took the time to show me where the water was coming, how mold had proliferated on the wood floor joists and beams.  The dirt floor was somewhat moist and light was visible from outside along foundation rim contributing to the mold and moisture in crawl space.  He explained each of our options and detailed the steps in sections of each estimate.
We opted to have a plumber fix the water leak, then franks crew came in, cleaned up the mold, then layed down the crawl space membrane, finally insulating floor & rim joist.  All in under two days.  The crew showed up on time, left the open sections of the house clean, and we immediately noticed a difference in kitchen and rest of house.  Walking around bare foot in kitchen is more comfortable, the kitchen is less noisy, and house humidity is maintained.

"Joe did a great job on this, our dining room was a add on to connect the original home and the garage and had no insulation and boy in the winter it was unusable as well as the kitchen basically (the best part of the house). Joe came and drilled small holes in the attic floor that they sealed up later to allow for blowing in the insulation. And they cleaned up well. we have a 20 month old but there was nothing left over for the baby to put in her mouth. Joe is great! Our dining room is toasty and the kids can play in there year-round Plus they are were less than half of the expensive "efficiency" guys PSEG sent over. "The following day I sent thisnote: Vauna, I want to thank you, Ari, and your crew for the work done yesterday at my house in New Rochelle. I am very grateful you were able to fit us in so quickly; scheduling the job when my contractor could meet you while we were away overnight meant that we were able to do everything in one day with minimal disruption. I fully understand how much more difficult it is to do retrofit work than new construction and your crew handled themselves very well, carefully covering the floors with drop cloths and all of our possessions with plastic and cleaning up when they were finished.  I thought they were careful and thorough in sealing the rim joist and injecting tripolymer into the walls without insulation. Of course we now have a lot of patching and painting to do, but I believe it was all worthwhile. We will not be certain until it is cold again but I can already feel that the house is less drafty.
Three weeks later:   The work was done at the end of March and the weather is improving --slowly--so we won't really put the new insulation to the test until next year but it is definitely the case that the HOUSE IS LESS DRAFTY.  My 90 year old mother immediately stopped using the space heater that  had run continually in her room from September till June.
