Customers say: Quality work

"Had paneling removed from plaster walls that were glued on. Robert gave a very fair price and was cost concious. All the spots were the plaster came off had to be spackled. For the final coat he inspected very closely to see any spots that needed to be touched up.He cleaned up daily and the final clean up was excellent. I would recommend him."

"George and his team did a four story gut renovation for us in Brooklyn. His team did an amazing and wonderful job. The project was done quickly upon the agreed time frame. His workers arrived early everyday and worked on Saturdays and Holidays. The work consisted of new interior staircases, window, doors , flooring, electrical, plumbing, three new bathrooms, two kitchens, full basement. Give Picasso Expert Renovations a phone call. You won't regret it. I highly recommend them."

"Jay came for leaky windows issue - 4th floor of condo building. Let's ignore the fact that Jay did a great job! Jay did more than that. I truly and deeply appreciate how he easily and clearly explained to me the problem at hand, the causes, and the remedy he was going to undertake to get this task done. I'm so use to the "... I'm here, where's the problem... ok - work is done.." treatment. Jay & company will be my go-to. You will not be upset in doing the same!"

"It was a difficult project requiring the removal of current siding, then significant patching, sanding and carpentry to prepare the original clapboard for paint. The crew was very hard working and super creative when it came to solving problems. They showed up on time every day and finished the project according to schedule. The price was very reasonable and no surprise charges. We are very pleased with AAA and would highly recommend them."

"OnCall Wallpaper has done 7 separate jobs for me- each one more increasingly difficult than the next and each one executed flawlessly which is why we keep coming back!! Gerard is a true pleasure to work with, he is professional, courteous, kind and has very fair, competitive and reasonable pricing. He truly wants to make projects work for his customers. Him and his crew are true masters at their skill - we’ve had him hang high end custom murals, grass cloth, extremely intricate designs that required precise and very difficult matching, strange shaped rooms, small rooms and gigantic rooms, repair work to existing wallpaper, and rooms that needed a ton of wall prep work before they could be wallpapered. Gerard and his team have completed each with stunning precision and care, and in very timely turnarounds. Crew is extremely kind, friendly and tidy. If you are looking for a high end experience, and want your project to come out more beautiful than expected every time- look no further than OnCall for all of your wallpaper needs- no matter the difficulty or size of the project!"

I am extremely pleased with the work of HJ Painting.  Hector is professional, showed up on time for the estimate, promptly gave the estimate via email, and showed up on time to do the work.   They removed the wall paper and prepped for painting, such that the walls came out as "smooth as silk".  They did it carefully, as there was paneling under the wall paper - with no need to do additional work to remove the paneling.  The crown molding was 5 1/2 inches in size and there were a few irregular corners to fit.  It was installed flawlessly.  They protected the rest of the rooms from any dirt and were tidy in set up and clean up.  Price was very reasonable.  I will certainly utilize HJ Painting again.  Hector is terrific!

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

To remove adhesive-backed wallpaper, you’ll need to soften the adhesive before you try peeling the wallpaper off the walls. You may wonder whether peel-and-stick wallpaper damages walls. It can depend on the removal method. Make sure to be patient and consider using a steamer, hair dryer, or adhesive remover to carefully take down adhesive-backed wallpaper.

Removing a wallpaper border requires the same process to remove full walls of wallpaper. Clear the area, spray down the surface with your hot water and vinegar solution or store-bought spray, wait 10 to 15 minutes, then scrape it off with a putty knife. Sometimes, border wallpaper lifts easier than larger sheets, so you can just peel it right off the wall by hand.

Yes, many companies offer convenient options to accommodate service timing needs.

While textured walls can elevate a space in many ways, there are a couple of downsides to consider. Namely, they’re hard to clean, and some textures fall out of fashion quickly. Make sure to consider all your options to find one you truly love before diving in.

While you can remove wallpaper yourself, it is a labor-intensive process that risks damaging your walls. Common DIY methods include using a steamer to loosen the adhesive or spraying the paper with a solution of hot water and vinegar or dish soap before scraping. However, steamers can cause irreparable damage if used incorrectly, and the spray-and-scrape method can harm drywall if it gets too wet or you scrape too aggressively. For these reasons, hiring a professional is often the fastest, easiest, and safest option. A pro has the experience and specialized tools to remove wallpaper efficiently without damaging the underlying surface, which saves time and minimizes the prep work needed for your next wall treatment.
