"Rich was very easy to work with and provided excellent service for the price paid. We had him clean off our gutters and power wash our back deck. Both looked great after completion. I will definitely keep RAP in mind for next year's spring cleaning."

"The project went great.  We are very happy with the quality of workmanship and the care that went into how the job was done.  Steve and his crew were punctual and hardworking.  They communicated well with us regarding the schedule.  They did a great job keeping everything clean and tidy during the sanding/prep and also when they were done.  I have worked with many contractors in the last few years and I could tell that Steve was a good person for our job.  He is a nice person and takes good care of his employees, who all seem happy to be working for him (and many have been with him for several years).  He was enthusiastic about taking on our project (like I said, it was a challenge) and had very helpful feedback along the way.  I would recommend this business and would definitely work with them in the future.

Sandblasting Services questions, answered by experts

If you’re DIYing the project, it could take up to a week if you aren’t able to dedicate full-time hours. If you hire a professional and they arrive with a team, expect your stairs to be sanded in as little as 2 hours (for simple projects). Finishing the stairs takes a while longer as there are drying and sealing times to consider, but the actual work will take much less time than the sanding portion.

Sandblasting is useful when you need to strip material off a hard surface. Common reasons to sandblast are to remove paint, rust, or get a surface ready for a new material. You aren’t limited to surfaces like walls either—you can sandblast rusted tools, bicycle frames, cement, bricks, and many others. If what you’re sandblasting is still structurally sound, sandblasting can be a fast and inexpensive way to revive the original material.

The best way to sand a deck is by cleaning it, sanding the boards and stairs with 60- or 80-grit sandpaper, and sanding the railings and posts with 80-grit sandpaper. You should sand in the direction of the wood grain to avoid damaging the timber. When sanding your deck, use medium pressure and aim for an even sand. Pressing too hard with a sander can damage decks, as most are softwoods.

There are two ways sandblasting could be dangerous: improper use of the equipment so that the stream touches your skin, and air particles created during the sandblasting process. While the first is easier to avoid and fairly obvious, the second has the potential to be more serious and is much more difficult to understand. This is why you should always hire a pro to sandblast, as they understand the dangers associated with the process. If proper safety measures are taken, then sandblasting is rarely dangerous.

You can concrete can be done when it’s wet or dry. However, it’s safer when wet, as harmful dust and chemicals are present. Sanding it when dry is faster, but you’ll agitate more dust and chemicals, meaning you’ll need to be more careful.
