Small jobs welcome

"Adam and his team did an amazing job on completing a backyard fence for my family. He was hardworking and detailed with the work. Kept me updated through every step of the way from the permit process, ordering materials and check-ins as the build was happening. Our fence is great! He also completed a custom railing and gate to attach to our existing deck. Will definitely be using we do it all again for future projects."

"Highly recommended!! Veloz was fast and made an excellent job! The repair was completely seamless and he made some smart arrangements with the carpet. The price was reasonable too. I am very satisfied with his service!"
Our main focus is to solve the problem, in this room we had to wait for the home owner frame the closet before polyurethane the floor. One more problem solved.

"I'd called about needing a moveout deep cleaning of a one bedroom apartment. I'd been explicit about a dirty kitchen--needing deep cleaning of a stove, the oven and refrigerator and degreasing/cleaning cabinets. The communication with the owner was excellent--very hard working person. The evening of my cleaning she had troubles with one of her employees having a car break down in Vermont. Somehow this impacted my job. The owner was a trooper, working hard and 8 months pregnant. They were missing essential supplies to clean the oven--a metal scraper to get grease and stuck stuff off the stove, SOS/Brillo or Copper Scouring pads, Comet/Ajax, Ammonia. This review really is to simply urge the business to insure that each cleaner, no matter what, has all essential supplies. I ended up working myself for 90 minutes, using some copper wire I had laying about and a plastic pan scraper to take on the stove top and oven racks. Had they had the above supplies, it would have been unnecessary. I also had to point out that the top of the refrigerator needed to be degreased. Some scouring powder (comet plus some hard elbow grease) for some tub lime deposits from old tile , likely would have completed the tub . I had my own step ladder available for them to use. All that said, I'd hire them again and I think I just hit them on an evening (yes she came out on a weekend evening which was great! ) when they had some off site work troubles. My job was pretty dirty, the before after was radical-meaning good work. The fact that the owner was there-so helpful, grace under pressure was great! Just make sure all your team always has a completely ready battery of cleaning supplies always. Yes I'd hire them again. I left a $50 tip."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you do not need to put padding or underlayment under carpet tiles. Unlike traditional carpet, which requires a separate pad, carpet tiles are designed to be installed directly onto a firm subfloor like plywood, concrete, or tile. Many carpet tiles come with a built-in underlay and attach with peel-and-stick adhesive, double-sided carpet tape, or glue. For a more comfortable, cushioned feel, especially in residential settings, you can opt for padded carpet tiles that have a thicker underlay attached. While it's generally not recommended to install a separate pad, a compact underlayment might be used in some situations, though this typically requires professional installation. An acoustic underlay may also be considered in commercial spaces or multi-level homes where noise reduction is a priority.

Taking carpet off stairs is an easy but multi-step process you can usually do yourself. If you have the right tools, time, and oomph to finish the job, removing carpet from stairs can be an easy-to-medium difficulty task, depending on your stairs, the type of carpet installed, and how willing you are to get your hands dirty. It’s important to review the process, gather the right tools before you begin, and follow a tutorial or directions while you work.

Many DIYers and pros start installing flooring in the middle of a room to ensure a balanced, symmetrical layout, especially when using tiles or planks. This process is particularly helpful in odd-shaped rooms because it allows you to create a centerline from which to work. Beginning in the center will enable you to work toward the edges so the final layout feels intentional and centered, even if the walls aren’t perfectly square.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.

If you have a dark carpet and are going for a lighter look, you should replace it, rather than dyeing, since you can only go darker with dye. If your stains are too heavy to mask with carpet dye or the carpet is more than 10 years old, you should also consider replacing it.
