"I recently had my driveway paved as well as the secondary driveway treated with gravel and compacting. The contractor was JY Paving- [*** Link removed ***] I was looking for a vendor and had a couple of suggestions from people I trusted. Only one of those entities bothered to come to my house and give me a quote. Then they told me they couldn't do it until next year. So I called a couple of others after doing an internet search and Jim Young was the only one who responded to me. He came to my house where we defined the scope and he gave me a quote. I later expanded the scope and he immediately followed up with the additional, reasonable costs. I thought his quote was more than fair, so I elected to take a chance and trust him. He showed up at my house as promised with all the equipment, paving materials, gravel and personnel required to cover my scope of work. Jim was out there operating the paver and roller and when he wasn't on one of those, he had a shovel or a rake in his hand and was trimming up the sides. Whenever I asked for a tweak here and there, he immediately tended to the issue with a smile on his face, no questions asked. At the end of the day, I had what I felt like was a beautiful primary driveway and secondary driveway. I was very happy to hand him a check reflecting the full amount of the work he and his crew had performed. When you have the owner of a company in the field operating equipment and manning shovels and rakes, you not only get a good product but you get excellent value because he's not paying a foreman to run his operation. I couldn't recommend JY Paving any more highly. He was very pleasant to deal with and offered me a great value."

"This is a very professional and high quality company. They completed the countertops in two days. The epoxy had a flaw from the manufacturer and they come back immediately and re surfaced it. The counters look like glass. The price was reasonable. We are very happy with the result. The only negative is they could have done a better job cleaning up."

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

Regular maintenance will help you avoid costly repairs and early replacement. Clean the driveway surface with a stiff brush and water at least twice yearly, and remove any weeds that try to take root. Additionally, every two to five years, apply a sealcoat—this protects the driveway against damaging UV rays and keeps it looking like new.

Asphalt driveway sealer lasts approximately one to three years. Although the industry standard is to add fresh sealant every two years, this ultimately depends on where you live. Your driveway is subjected to elements like harsh sunlight, freezing temperatures, precipitation, and extra wear and tear that comes from foot traffic and heavy cars. If you start noticing small cracks or uneven drying on your driveway, it’s a sign that your previous seal coat has run its course and your driveway needs a new one.

Unlike drying, which takes between 48 and 72 hours on average, asphalt driveway cure times are different and take much longer. Your asphalt driveway won’t actually cure for around six months to one year. During this time, it’s more likely to get damaged or weakened by heavy machinery, vehicles, and high temperatures.

You shouldn’t directly paint over an oil stain on your asphalt driveway. While painting over might visually conceal the stain, the oil will continue to damage the driveway. Once you’ve noticed the oil stain, it’s important to thoroughly remove it within the next few months since oil stains only take six months before they begin to damage the structure of your asphalt driveway.

On average, asphalt dries within 24 to 72 hours, meaning it’s solid enough for light traffic—walking and careful driving. Full curing—when asphalt reaches peak strength—can take anywhere from three months to a year. During that time, heavy loads and sharp objects can leave marks. Weather, asphalt mix, and thickness all affect how quickly it dries and cures. If you want your asphalt to last, treat it gently until it’s fully cured. For the best results, check with a professional asphalt contractor for their advice.
